I'm just throwing this out there. So you pay an extra $100 on an oil change on a diesel every 10,000 km and $60 on a fuel filter. So really, every 10,000kms it's costing you an extra $160? That's not a lot. Not really a good excuse. Drive what makes you happy.

You will be spending more on repairs if issues pop up though. And some vehicles (Dodges) are a bit harder on front end parts.

Yup 100 k or so on a dodge and your dumping 3G into the front end. Just did the bosses old mans and he drives like miss daisy 2011 3500 ram 120 k and the complete front end was shot.
Bosses d max that gets drove like a rental 270k and still on original front end. Just sayin and rides way nicer.
Like its been said before there is a reason you don't see dodges in the patch. It's all ford and chev.

I had a diesel, and sure do miss the pulling power. about 10 weekends a year.
I sure hated it in the city, and if it is a daily driver a big truck sucks in the city.

It doesn't pay to have a diesel, unless you hold on to it. I read somewhere that you need to put 233,000 km to justify the $10,000 option while towing.

You have to warm up a diesel before you jump in and go. Not so much in the summer.

I went to an f-150 with a tonneau, and a 2 place enclosed. I will someday go back to a one ton, but not for a while.

How does a 1ton diesel suck compared to a 1/2t pickup in the city?? My dodge 3500 and dodge 1500 are the same size? The 1 ton is taller and that is it. My 1ton kicks the ch!t out of the hemi for power so it is actually better in the city I think.

No need for a chiropractor at the end of the day with a half ton
Lol

It's lighter, more agile, the suspension is softer, and the truck turns tighter.

There is no way you can say the ride is the same on a 1 ton than a 1/2 ton empty.

I'm playing devils advocate here. You do get your money back in resale. And if you're talking about newer diesels, they warm up quite fast with the Exhaust Gas Recirculation and exhaust brakes on.

I'm sure its more practical for Rowdy to own a gas truck. Better ride, better on fuel empty, and cheaper repairs if required. But diesels aren't that much more $ to own and operate unless you're breaking stuff.

I agree. The new dodges ride better. They don't ride as nice as a Chevy though. But with all the issues all the trucks have in the front end I would sooner go with a solid axle the ifs.

I have an '02 Cummins with 330,000 "oilpatch" km on the original frontend. Getting a little loose now. It doesn't have a 22" lift and 42" tires though.

thats 6000$ over the life of the truck of betwen 350-370000km.

i do that in 4 years. so add the additional extra 10,000 purchase price and i could buy myself another summit XM hehehe

I work in the oil patch and drive a 2010 dodge dually with almost 98,000 km's on it with no problems and original front end that is still tight. Seen quite a few chev company trucks where the front ends were shot after approx. 65,000 km's of driving roads like the Two Lakes, Willow Creek, Pole Cat, Sierra and southern Saskatchewan highways.

It might feel tight, but wait till you get it in a shop, take your meds before hand, it helps.

115-120 bucks to fill. 500 kms.

Chip. Intake. Exhaust.

Sold it.

Driving an 07 F350. Same size tank. 800 km per tank on the highway in the summer not hauling. If I rip on it, I'll get 700.

Chip. Intake. Exhaust.

Maybe instead of everyone saying how good their truck is we should write down what sucks about our trucks. Easier to figure out what works and what doesn't IMO.

Like I wish I had gotten a long box instead of short. The headlights totally suck on my new dodge vs my 2008. And I do have some rattles already. But the truck does go on rough roads a lot. It has 53000 Kms on it so far
