That's what I said, conserving fuel is a good thing.
What i'm saying is they cant.... they pretty much get what they get.

Well said. I would never go back to gas either. And I'll use my jacked up diesel in any way I want, even if it means getting groceries.
And if truckers are worried about diesel rationing, maybe some of them should slow down to conserve fuel. That way they aren't riding everyone's ass down a hill or turned over in the ditch on a mountain road. Seems I see one nearly every trip into the hills.
The Ecoboosts are ok when unloaded, but a diesel will out pull it and get better fuel economy with a full load on.
So what are the benifit a if your diesel over a gas, as I am sure you don't haul anything but your single sled on s deck all winter to ride it the two times you actually Go anywhere, even though it sits there all year. Could it be the worse fuel mileage, when empty, drove them all and empty they don't even get close to my 5.4 that's a pig and the new gas are better than it for mileage, higher operating costs, higher purchase cost, higher maintenance costs, more frequent oil change intervals.
I was looking at changing to a diesel, as I haul my holiday trailer every weekend in the summer, 33ft bumper with 2 slides and my 4 place sled trailer in winter , but just cannot se it being cost effective. Test drove the big three so to speak all three had horrible fuel mileage compared to my gas. Ride was horrible on all as I would go to a1 ton if I was to change as you can't haul two sleds on a deck legally with a 3/4 ton with the big cab then I figured in oil change cost doubling ish over my gas fuel cost add another 10% for actual cost then another 10% for higher consumption and to get a comparably loaded truck to what I have now would be a 70g plus unit
Diesel just not as good of an option as they used to be gas gets the same or better mileage and cost to run is wayyy less
As for the comment about truckers being worried about fuel
You don't think they are at best these new units are getting 5-6 mpg empty. Every 1/4 mpg they can save they do. When was the last time you pulled up to a pump and dropped a g note just you could go to work that day and hopefully not break down or damage anything just so you can do it again tomorrow morning.
Remember regardless of how some of them drive "EVERYTHING" you consume in any way was on a truck at one point in its life cycle to get to you.
After 2 or 3 years put a gasser up for sale versus a diesel. I bet the diesel sells for way more $$$.

Actually you can haul two sleds with a mega cab dodge 2500, I do it every weekend legally. And I drive my diesel everywhere because of the simple fact I enjoy it, so why should anybody tell me I shouldn't do it. I know people that drive $150,000 Bentleys in winter because they are all wheel drive, yes I think its completely ridiculous but who am I to tell them its not right!

So your the guy with the gas truck that doesn't have enough power to pull his trailer through the mountains, yes your trucks rated for it but when you cant keep a consistant speed up with a trailer and causing a backup of traffic behind you it becomes dangerous and frustrating, that's where you see the guy/girl pulling a identical trailer with a diesel passing you and shaking his/hers head because you have this nice trailer but you don't have the proper truck to pull it. I see it every weekend I go riding guys pulling enclosed sled trailers with gassers doing 80 in a 100 zone making me passing them and also all the people that are two scared to pass, which is dangerous because everyone thinks there ford ecoboost,5.0 dodge hemi 5.7 chev 5.3, all half tons can pull these heavy trailers because they say they can within there specs.
Haha, yep I am in my 20s my age has nothing to do with my opinion so your telling my its ok for you to do 80 in 100 zone with your trailer because you feel its safer but end up backing up traffic behind you, yep there's the reason there should be a minimal speed limit in so they can enforce it to the people that cant drive the posted speed, if you cant do the speed limit you shouldn't be on the road and if you don't feel safe driving the speed limit with your trailer you shouldn't be driving with one!

The thing u just dont get is that this diesel will be the same price of a new hemi, has super long oil change intervals, will get better mileage, so where in this is this truck 10000 more? You seem super stubborn and stuck on your honda civic of the truck world
While I agree that this V6 will go the way of the dodo bird you can't seriously think you will tow a 33ft. trailer as well as any Dodge with a 5.9. If you push that gasser to the sme level as a 5.9 your spark plugs will pop out of the head, you will devour gas at rates never seen by the 5.9. I had a 2006 f150 POS. Dealer read me the same BS script you are touting. Absolute bullsh!t. Ride, noise level and empty handling favor the 150. That's where it ends. If your Dodge buddy story is true, he needs to get that thing into a shop. I doubt you would make these statements if you had ridden in a Dodge towing a loaded trailer.Really the f150 is the civic highest tow rating of any half ton, legally can tow more than a dodge 3/4 ton hd actual towed weight that is not the gross weight as the diesel is 1800 lbs heavier so the half ton will haul about 200 lbs more. Gets better mileage and rides wayyyyy better than any dodge out there.
I'm not stuck on mines the best but it is the best for what I do. There is no benifit to a diesel in a half ton IMO and that's all I said. The cost is going to be about 10g more it was stated in a post earlier that someone actually checked pricing.
The dodge half ton diesel will come and go just as the Cherokee diesel did
As a PS, a Dodge diesel can be had for about $3500 more than the gas, and it doesn't weigh 1800 lb. more. Just the facts.
