Delete 2017 Cummins

I have a 2017 Cummins with 100k has been perfect, but am tired of def and wondering if fuel mileage can be improved much with full delete. I’ve never reset one of the lie o meters says 12.9L/100 over 100,000km.

What kind of mileage increases can be had? Not really looking for more power it’s ok and I don’t trust the trannies if hp and tq cranked.

Also any shop recommendations in central Ab?

I deleted my 2015 with 105K and its been awesome. Only a marginal fuel improvement empty, but significant when towing. On the highway at 120kmph i average around 10.4. City is 13ish. Towing is a big difference. Pulling 10,000lbs will hold 17l/100km.

No more DEF is nice and the added power and throttle response is worth it for sure. I chose to go with EFI live with a 45 HP tow tune (any more than that you should do the head studs) 4.5" exhaust with muffler and EGR delete. Ram Tuff in Nisku did it for me. I checked 3 places and they were by far the best price.

I drove my buddies 15 deleted with the Aisin tranny...he didn’t think he’s gained any better mileage(empty) .....but I think it did pulling my enclosed trailer . I have a 15 also not deleted and it definitely uses more. Can’t really say how much better though.

Am diesel in Lacombe had the best price when I did one of my Super duty’s
My 17 Cummins is stock and I’m leaving it that way until that stuff gives issues
I really like that my exhaust doesn’t stink and it’s fairly quiet. If the gains are marginal what’s the point?

I deleted my '14 and gained an honest 2l/100. This was on 37's. Mine tried to put me into limp mode multiple times on sled trips and out in the boonies. There was no way I was ruining a sled trip or getting stuck out in the middle of nowhere due to emissions issues. The driveability of the truck after deletes was amazing, regretted not doing it sooner. Never another CEL after getting rid of all the garbage. If I bought another cummins deletes would be the first thing I'd do.

I deleted my 2010 Ram 2500, added a 4 inch flo Pro turbo back exhaust, Sinster diesel delete kit and went with Coopers Custom Tune efi live 45hp tune plus the transmission tune. Originally I would get about 650km out of a tank empty now i can get 850km.

From what I’ve read the 12 and under trucks gain a ton from a delete, far more than 13+

Deleted my 18 at 5000 km, efi live tune 4" exhaust full egr delete. Does 16/100 with 26' enclosed and 13/100 empty, left it at factory hp. Truck is much more responsive now and similar to my chipped 2005.

Similar to a 05? That's a huge negative. These newer ones have so much more power from the factory, something is majorly wrong if you are thinking it has the power of one from 15 years ago.....

Haven't touched my 13, nearing 150,000km on it and no problems with emissions. But I also use mine for work so it is always towing/hauling, not going to take the risk. Most of the problems are people using them as grocery getters. At 70ish km a line on the tranny popped, no problem with warranty. Had it been deleted? Could have been a huge fight, or a massive bill getting it covered as entire tranny was replaced.

Must have missed the chipped part? A good tune can make 400 to the tires easy, stock on a late model Cummins is less than 350

The EGR delete alone is reason enough.... pull ur plate and u will throw up a little seeing what’s being pumped back into ur $75000 truck !

I deleted my 2016 dodge 3500 at 73km it wanted to regen all the time with all hiway driving, have the aisn trans so could only get the 45hp economy/tow tune, got an extra 200km per tank, and no more dead pedal

After doing a couple deletes in the past and leaving in the Catalytic convertor, I would only do it that way again. Just remove the particulate filter and the exhaust still smells good. I know exhaust temps don't go quite so low but it is worth it.

It seems to me that there is a lot of antidotal evidence supporting deleting egr/def. I am very sceptical of the benefits of extra fuel economy and horsepower. I drove OEM 2001 duramax totally devoid of emission control including egr from the factory. The latest duramax consumes less fuel and def combined then the 01 did fuel alone and has a obscene amount of power to boot. Yes the egr contaminants the engine oil some what but it doesn’t seem to be relevant to engine life. To think that some after market accessory gadget is going to improve on OEM engineering without sacrificing life cycle/resale is ridiculous. Do you want to pull your sled trailer faster then 160 km/hr. Maybe Cummins should hire the pros from the after market gadget factory to teach the how to build a Diesel engine properly. LMAO

Car manufactures hands are tied due to emissions no way in hell the number of new non deleted would hit the 500xxx km without motor issues like so many non dpf/egr diesels in the past. My 2012 dodge was 24 litres per 100 down to 14 after deleted and no more trips to the dealer for regen issues. My 17 ford however did not see near the gains like the dodge did for fuel economy but i sure notice after 8000 km my oil sure as hell looks alot better compared to non deleted. Warm
your engine up dont drive it like a dragster and some things break thats just life but i dont beleave the new version of deletes is doing damage atleast prob less then the egr, dpf are doing allready

Then you truly do not understand what this "accessory gadget" is or does. The only reason there is a DPF or DEF fluid is to help emissions. It is not to improve engine longevity. Both cost $$ and both decrease engine performance and longevity.

I have not deleted my 2016 duramax simply because of the warranty risk, but I deleted my 2010 Ford at 2 months after I bought it at 5000 km. Best thing I ever did, but fortunately I did not need a serious warranty claim.
