I can see paying a small difference from dealer to dealer but they all get their parts from the same suppliers in Calgary and they are all about the same size of dealer. So where is this difference coming in?

so many cheapskates on this site lmao..

you can buy a 13K sled,

haul it in a 30-70K truck

in a 5-20K trailer

but cant shell out 200 bucks for a belt and get mad at a dealer for not giving it away??

you gotta pay to play boys.. we all knew this sport wasnt cheap!!

It's got nothing to do with paying to play. It's about charging ~$75 more for a belt than everyone else. Basically robbing those not in the know. And to top it off, they probably charge a 20% restocking fee to take it back. You can charge whatever you want but I question the ethics of those that do this cuz they can.

Honestly any one of us that posted in this thread would likely tell them to pound sand and go somewhere else, or at least question it, but how many folks have been ripped off the same way? I caught the yammy dealer in my grandfather's home town ripping him off on oil for his sled just because they could. They never put prices on their jugs and he just paid what they said. I went in and bought him a jug for $20 less when I questioned him about the price and buddy behind the counter said oh that's for the other oil. I never clued in they were trying to rip me off till my grandfather tried to give me money for it, (much more than it cost) I told him no it was only $XX.XX and he said he had been buying oil there for years at over $20 more. Pisses me off when people get taken advantage of like that. They were selling him generic which is what he wanted at synthetic prices just to rip him off. Not once, but for years!!
I snapped on the dealer on my way out of town, and the next time my grandfather was in there they gave him his oil and a toque for free but still, dealers like that should be run out on a rail!

BTW I haul my 14K sled in my 4K truck and have no problem paying $200 for a belt.

OK...so I've been in contact with JC @ Cycle Works Foothills....because it was too hard for any of the parties directly involved to pick up the phone!! They did in fact have the pricing mis-entered in their system. The price should have been $208 + GST as there was a slight dealer wide increase from the previous price of $197 + GST. Johnny or Teth-Air...if you contact JC at Cycle Works Foothills with the invoice or pertinent info...he will have this corrected for you!! WOW...what a phone call can accomplish!! Carry-on with your day now...as it has been saved:D I hope you now understand all the previous points against your bashing!!

Well thanks for this, actually I was going to go back to Cycle Works when I had a chance but with being away all weekend I was a bit behind. I did in fact call JC and he is fixing this problem. It must be noted that when I did buy the belt, I did question the price but my inquiry was quickly shot down.

Bottom line is I am not upset with them and give credit to this forum and the involved members for that.

Johnny...You didn't even buy the damn belt!! Maybe you should have had someone that cares about how much of your money they spend, do your personal shopping for you the next time. If I was picking something up for a friend and knew I was paying too much....I would discuss with the parts counter, manager or at least call my bro to make sure he was cool with it!! Maybe you should call JC and discuss it with him. Maybe it was a glitch in the system or in Teth-Air's customer profile...but no sense thinking there could be a mistake...just start with the "they are crooks" approach!! Why don't you call your buddy out online for spending your money unjustly? He already admitted that he wouldn't have paid that much for a belt for himself, but he had no problems spending your dough!!

I see your last post and good on you for calling and sorting things out.

Maybe the buyer should have questioned it, but who buys or sells more belts - the guy who buys one a year or the service counter rep who sells one a week? on the flip side - The person at the service counter should be saying "$275 for a belt seems high, normally they are around $220, let me look into that a little more...".

Aside from that - still don't understand WTF makes the belt worth $220? almost 4 times the cost of other brands? does it last forever?
