Looking at maybe installing a CR resonator on my 2018 Sidewinder just wondering if factory heat shields can be used and if not will the extra heat cause any damage to side panels or other components.

It is recommended that you use the oem shields and yes it will fit with the CR's resonator pipe.

I powdered mine high temp black but like Lund said they do work.

No heat shields. And one of mine has a 3" that is even closer to side panels. No issues.

Pretty impressive numbers Randy, I like the muff pot setup too. Any tips to shed a bunch of weight off these beasts or are you just going with the “weight doesn’t matter when you get over 300 horse” philosophy? Lol

Battery and exhaust are the easy cheaper weight loss items. Then you can go with a seat and light weight hood.

Well took my Sidewinder for quick a little ride today around the yard and field after installing the CR resonator can it woke the sled up pretty good it hits the rev limiter fairly quick now as expected will have to look at some clutching changes for local riding also this can is louder than expected will have to ride it more and give it a try in the mountains then see if i will keep it or look at something else any info on clutching for around 2500 - 3500 ft and maybe what other names of aftermarket cans would sound like would be appreciated

I run a 2.5" straight pipe, and yes in an open field or on the trail ride up to the alpine they are loud and at certain RPM can have a drone. But once you get into the alpine and powder the noise isn't bad at all.

Everyone i have rode with comments on how cool the winder sounds like with a pipe. Never has anyone said its too loud...LOL
The pipe reduces the back pressure and increases the flow, by doing so the waste gate exhaust flow increases so you will gain about 1 1/2psi of boost. This is the increase your noticing. Your essentially over 200HP at elevation at this point.

I told you it was gonna be loud, happy eardrums ha ha!! By the way I am quite happy with the noise drop and I have noticed no difference in power from the straight pipe, Lund is right the noise isn't so bad once you get up top.

Been running two years like this with no heat shields. Easy chaincase adjustment, lost 15 pounds, sounds like a fukkin' grizzly bear, cooks food. win-win-win-win
We are all happy with the quieter pipe you put on Paul. Still sounds great just not nearly as angry. Your old pipe would scream “fawk you mountain “ now it’s a pleasant “screw you mountain”
