Correct clutch puller?

Hey all-

just picked up a new-to-me 02 Polaris xcsp 500.

have always had Indys.... Clutches look same- but I'm thinking I need a new puller?

anyone let me know a part number or pic?

stock puller is 2870285 made for most indy models, after market EPI pcp-8

If you lay the machine on its side. Teflon tape the treads of the clutch bolt. Lots of tape. Pour water into the shaft then re-thread the bolt in. The clutch pops off with far less effort than a puller.

Water trick will work with proper size bolt, but it won't work with clutch bolt. It has to thread into clutch not crank

I've done mine with just the clutch bolt. Mines a cat. I think the threads are the same from clutch to crank. It's been a while but I think once threaded out of the crank I pull back then thread out of the clutch.

Made the assumption his clutch may be the same. If so that's the quickest way to pop em off

I used a 3/4 fine thread rod from a puller set I have, any piece of 3/4 ready rod with a couple of nuts will work, there is a YouTube video on this, they are making it for a Polaris quad, but it works for sleds as well. I just used it the other day on a 2003 rmk

I went all through this and as mentioned the clutch bolt doesnt work. I did the same as Justinvr81, Used a fine threaded rod and welded and nut onto the end so I had something to turn it with.
Comes off with a hell of a bang so wear clean shorts ;-)
