I haven't been into Corbin. I would assume it would be similar to what we found yesterday north of Corbin. Lots of wind blown areas and some big cornices for this time of year, heavy rain crusts at lower elevations, no recent rain above 5000', and decent rideable snow for a break-in road ride. Not enough snow to go into the trees and the open spots are suspect with stumps and rocks. Lots of trees down across the trails from the recent winds, so take a decent saw.

rode corbin today: lots of fun on the short tracks. ok in the trees on the long tracks. hero snow for climbs. Will not return now until another big dump. Watch for steel hunks of angle iron on the first 2 miles of road. Not sure how they got there, i moved 3 chunks on the way out.

Well that didn't work. Avy Canada was up today said there was 30 cm of fresh snow storm and up to 60 cm of fresh in places. There was whumphing sounds and crack lines in the snow with the new storm snow on top of the old layers. I will be up there in the am I'll take pics

Once again, we have a problem with access and icy road conditions. I heard (fairly reliable source) Morrissey was a little dangerous and hard on sliders/cooling. If one can drive the truck to the snow line, it is good but the snow is skinny and crusty. Lower elevations where there was lots of rain has a serious ice coating on the roads.

Corbin should be good as the highway goes to the staging area and it is fairly high.

What are the rules for staging if you want to ride the pipeline? Can you just park in the pullout on the side of Corbin Rd? I haven't tried it yet so I wanted to be sure before I get myself in trouble.

Pull into the yellow gates and off to the side or up at the compressor station (tin shacks) and find a spot. Just have to be a little more thoughtful if the road is plowed and it looks like there is active logging.

Corbin/Barnes Dec 10 2015. 192cm HS. Recent heavy loading, lots of natural avalanches. Avalanche Canada MIN site for recent observations and conditions info. Play smart.
