Cuzzzzzzzz.....they were looking for drunks, not murderers.

Ahhhhh, never mind! :der:

So it makes sense they can profile looking for hungover sledders but not when looking for murderers??? What fawking planet does that make sense?

Rolled into Revy late Friday night, the Mrs dropped me off at a buds house for same late night sociables, and carried on her way to get some late night dinner... She ended up getting pulled over on the main drag into town...but for the right reasons... He just wanted to check ownership. She proved it was mine (aka 'Hers') ...No problems, and on her way she went.

I was actually pretty happy to hear they are out there checking, especially in the wee hours of the morn...

(Thatsaid, secretly, I think he was expecting a fella behind the wheel instead of a pretty young thing on a snack run.. Hahaha)

I just got back a 4 days in revy. They are pulling all sledders over. 3 nights in a row we were stopped. Checked the sled papers and to da loo. Quick and painless. Good on them. They also said one of the nights 3 skiers got DUI's in one hour. No sledders as of when I asked which is great.

Quick question, are they happy with just insurance on alberta sleds or are they asking for registration and plates too?

Don't need insurance in BC.....unless of course you have one of the few permits to cross the plowed road. Unplowed FSR's are exempt form requiring liability on sleds. Non-FSR unplowed roads have no rules. Non-roads have even less rules....other than the Caribou rules.

How can you not have insurance? I always had the understanding that liability insurance is a must with any motor vehicle and not having it is foolish and hard on the pocket book if pulled over. Also how can you prove if the sled is yours without insurance registration with a vin number on it, or are they just running the Vins on the roadside to see if they are hot? My sled is insured and registered so i'm not worried about that as for the HID's and tint guess that one will be taken on the chin. Im actually glad that there checking for slolen gear it would be nice to see some guys get cought just the word of them being out is a huge deterrent for the theives.

Never said it was a good idea not to have insurance, just telling you what the law says.

Check out section 3(1)

Just an FYI, you do not need to prove that the sled is yours. You can haul it around with no paperwork all you want. It is up to the RCMP to determine that there is reason to believe that the sleds in the trailer you are pulling are stolen (through police report or filed off vin etc...). Carrying paperwork makes things smoother in the event that you are pulled over but it's not required.

I was pulled over in Revy on Friday at 2am as I was driving through. Trailer is registered in another name in a different province with my sled inside with no paperwork. Got asked a few questions and explained myself and was on my way.

Yup. We still have SOME constitutional rights left, like the protection from unwarranted search and seizure. I just carry my bill of sale to make things easier. Not gonna ever register another sled in this "tax you to death" province.
