It's just hard to swallow $1,200 for a gun.
Haha, it's only hard to swallow once. Then the next one that's hard to swallow is $2500, then $3500, and it's just a never ending cycle.

I helped a guy sight in an MVP when they first came out in the laminate tactical ish stock. Had I not recently bought my How's Axiom in 22-250 I would have been on my way to stoon to pick up one of those. What a comfortable, fun gun to shoot. And if you have any kids or lady friends it's a great starter as it doesn't have much kick.

After the initial sight in, we were hitting clay pigeons on bales at 300 yards. I wouldn't hesitate to pick on up if you looking for a good bang for your buck .223.

Well getting the employee/family discount I should've bought the darn thing, these coyotes are getting bad around my farm. Lost one calf so far. My SKS I don't have enough range with, if they're closer then 100 yards they're mine, but farther it's like pissing into the wind.

Are you two talking about this gun?

I have been looking at it for a couple of months now and probably would have bought it as my first ever gun purchase, but it's never in stock..... I've found this as an alternative I may like (CMMG MK47 Mutant Semi-Auto Rifle | Bass Pro Shops: The Best Hunting, Fishing, Camping & Outdoor Gear).... I'd welcome opinions on either (I'm a total newb and don't hunt... )

CMMG looks nice but spendy for yet another AR variant. Won't be legally shooting any Yotes at the farm with that.

Lol yeah my thoughts exactly that "looks" like an assault rifle so it's immediately restricted I bet.

And yes thar mvp LC is the one I was looking at. It takes standard ar mags which is nice, those are plentiful. I like the removable mag for cleaning, you can lock it better, and have multiple mags instead of plucking rounds through the action one by one. The adjustable stock is nice for my long arms too. I put on a stock kit on my SKS so it has the pistol grip adjustable stock and it feels so nice, and when someone else shoots it they can make the stock shorter if they need.

This one "looks" like an assault rifle (at least to me) too...... and it is non-restricted...

I'm not sure how bad a 50 would recoil but the 44 mag is about the same as my 357 Mag Model 586 The Dessert eagle is a heavy gun I would say that you would get tired of the weight before you get tired of the recoil
I've put a few rounds through a 50 cal desert eagle and would agree with this statement, it's damn heavy.

I picked up a Savage Bmag .17WSM and it was about $900 wth a Cabela's scope (clear 3-9X40) with a bullet drop disc for the .17WSM.
Hard to tell which is more fun. If you wand basically zero kick and 3000fps with under 1" groups at 100 yds the Bmag is it! $22.95 per box of 50.
I soooo need a field full of gophers.
Bmag has a short length of pull so fits daughter very well.

Do you have a source other than Cabela's for that gun? It's never in stock here .....
Cabelas was where I saw it, I think they have a couple in stock. Had one out front that I was holding and at least one in the back.

Funny that CZ 858 got classified as a "prohibited" rifle because they were too close resemblance of the prohibited firearms, as well as all the SIG rifles from Swiss Arms were all reclassified as prohibited, but what I just read posting this, thankfully before Harper lost power they brought them back down to non restricted and the Swiss arms to restricted again, like it was before.

But hey, 30 billion deficit that's not bad right?....

Heard the WSM is dirty and you start getting flyers after 20rnds or so?

Haha yeah they are a blast. I'm probably $1000 into mine I think by now. 450 for the gun, 60 for the bolt handle. 250 ish I think for the Boyds thumb hole with an increased length of pull, had a Bushnell banner on it just to get out shooting but just put on a Burris Fullfield 3-9 which is so much nicer.

NorthPro sports in Saskatoon has a deal on a brick (500 rounds)of 17 WSM Winchester for $185 I think when I was in there the other day. They also had the new Ruger 17/77 in 17 WSM. The action cycles quite a bit nicer than the B-Mag, buuut the stock could use some work. So I will continue to blast rodents with the B-Mag.

I stumbled across a video the other day that I can't seem to find right now of a gun magazine doing a comparison between the Winchester, Hornady, and American Eagle WSM rounds and the American Eagle's grouped the best out of the 3. I picked up a brick of them in Regina around Xmas so I'm excited to get out and try those now.

I found this for the first little bit, and right after I cleaned the barrel, and if I kept cleaning the barrel after outings. Then I stopped cleaning the barrel and I'm around 800 rounds since the last barrel cleaning and I've got no issues with maintaining 1 inch groups at 100 yards, picking off magpies at 60-80 yards. Muskrats over 100, coyotes at 125 and tannerite at 150. I haven't seen a gopher up here in about 6-7 years so I can't comment on the damage they do to them but I'm sure it's exceptional.

If anyone in the cool guns section has a 45 70 stainless and decides (yeah right) to sell it let me know. Wouldn't mind picking one up.
