BRP needs to come up with a heads up goggle display and get rid of the gauge all together. My dash is always covered in snow anyways and the only think I look at is engine temp.

Hard Pass, I don’t like my HUD in my truck. I turn it off most of the time. Especially at night.

Any bets on replacement cost?
I am betting $2400.
I am also wondering if it gets cracks or anything will it not allow the sled to run? ch!t happens in the hills and it would be terrible to smash a screen then need a heli ride cause im sure its not as simple as swapping a buddys screen

So the question is, did Maxwell opt for the large screen?

Also, wasn’t the spare belt relocated to behind the seat? If there is a battery where does the spare belt end up?

the calculator gauge was all that was needed IMO... 7900 and go!

I had the 08 X and 14 X... never knew how to use the "extra" functions anyways lol

19 freeride calculator was simple to see

It is distracting, it vibrates when you hit a bump, and truthfully it does not display anything useful, that I cannot see in the centre digital screen.

I did not. I am on a little different program so my sled might show up with one we will see, i wont be upset if it does. I also ordered my girlfriends machine without the guage.

I do agree it does look a little funny so i am second guessing myself now, not because of the guage functionality but just how they didn't make the guage plastic for the small guage aesthetically pleasing......

the big guage is a powerful platform, excited to see what the years to come add to that guage for mountain riding functionality.

Turple brothers is saying the gauge can read other riders. NORONA can you confirm?
In cell it can,
Pros and cons of the two options in the context of snowmobile navigation:

Mobile app that connects to the gauge (such as BRP GO! app)
  • PROS
    • Always shows the most up-to-date information (trails, POIs, trail availability...)
      • It's a must in Ontario, as the OFSC obliges to show up-to-date trail availability (which is updated every 24 hours)
    • Requires no gauge updates for the latest trails
    • Very easy to create itineraries on your phone and see them on the gauge without any update (only needs a USB connexion)
    • Friends don't need to have specific vehicles (with V2V capability) to be tracked (they only need the mobile app)
    • For friend tracking, range is unlimited as long as you have cellular coverage
    • Trip information and statistics are available in the mobile app for viewing at any time
  • CONS
    • Uses mobile data
    • Cellular coverage is needed for friend tracking
    • There could be potential connectivity issues with the USB cable (with humidity or low quality USB cables)
    • You need to download your itineraries for offline navigation prior going out
*For BRP GO!, you can download itineraries on the mobile app (before the ride) to see the map and the turn-by-turn indications when there is no cellular coverage.

Factory-installed navigation systems
  • PROS
    • No need to use a phone
      • Doesn't use cellular data
      • Avoid potential connectivity issues with the USB cable
    • No cellular coverage needed for friend tracking with compatible system
    • No need to download itineraries or maps before a ride (for offline navigation)
  • CONS
    • Requires regular updates for the latest trail information if available
    • Friends need to have specific vehicles (with V2V capability) to be tracked (if someone don't have the V2V capability, they will not be tracked)
    • For friend tracking, range is usually limited (∼ 1 mile)
this gives you an idea, I know polaris is working with a company they either bought or own part of so no way they are giving up tech they have, anyway this is a starting point. I think the new screen is awesome but for some it is definately overkill, that is the beauty , its an option. There is also the possiblility of this being like shot, lots of guys said what a waste and too much money when it came out, then the guys who did not get it were bummed when they saw how much people liked it. Remember the screen may not have everything you want on it now, but in a year or two when you have your machine still or go to sell your machine and updates do have all the things you wanted when you go to sell it might be something the next person wants. Like shot if there is a sled without it, some guys definitely go with one that does have it. These are two very different things obviously but i think this will be something that more guys want in the future especially if it follows you, your buddies and even more. Cheers dave
