I need to do some clutching work on my '04 summit this summer. On clicker 6 and want to have her at 4. Have no idea wtf to do or anything.
Should I try to make what I have work? Buy a clutch kit? How do you make it so that your sled will work to her prime on clicker 4?

Help!

Is 6 "heavier or lighter" weight in the primary? I don't run ski-doo, but may be able to help anyways.

I have absolutely no idea. I had to clicker up the last time I rode because I was only pulling 7000rpms wide open up hill. I will try to find that info out. and get back to you.

So you increased numbers on your clicker to increase rpm, is that what your saying?

Yes. After I clickered up my RPM's went up but still wasn't at the ideal. Not sure if the difference in snow makes me need to clicker. I kind of want to "set it and forget it" kind of thing.

Dynamo Joe kit? I was told those are good. But I don't understand how to install them or how to make it so I'm at around 3 or 4. There probably aren't instructions are there...

Increasing weight in the primary decreases rpm in a Cat primary. I'm not sure how the Doo primary works exactly, but it looks like you may need to decrease weight in your primary to get the clicker numbers down into midrange of its numbers. Your sled will change rpm in different snow conditions, if you don't adjust the primary, so ideally you need to be set at 4 for the conditions you normally ride in.

I'm sure others on here more familiar with Doo will help.

I'm gonna be getting one for my sled this year. My dad and I had identical 07 doos before our new ones and he had a clutch kit. Would walk all over my sled that was stock clutching.
Best way to learn is to have someone there that knows what to do and get them to tell you what to do.

To take RPMs down, add flywieght, to take them up, lose flywieght

Principles

Get reading, its all unreal knowledge. Top right corner is clutching IQ, read those, then browse under support for even more info.

I put a DJ kit in my XP this year, it was like a whole new sled. Would highly recomend.

Clutching is very simple. Changing clicker positions will affect your rpms by about 200. Normally around home you would be on 1 or 2. in the mountains 5 or 6. Your sled runs optimal at 7800 I believe.

To change clicker position take a 10 mil wrench and loosen the three nuts on the primary DO NOT REMOVE the nut completely just enough so you can spin it to the new postion which are marked around the nut. Do one at a time taking care that the nut is not removed.

Ok Rowdy time to do the cluth kit DJ's a great kit. On your primary each click you increase you gain 200 RPM. If your set on 5 and only pulling 7200 to 7400 thats low but spring snows heavy machine is working alot harder and running alot warmer. There is a guy in Ardrie who deals the DJ kit, I will look for his contact info.:d

Rowdy your sudden lack of rpm could be a couple of things. First off it could be caused by your clutch bushings in need of replacement in your TRA. I'm not sure when you last had a look at them? Another cause could be generally higher altitudes attained in spring conditions or the snow conditions themselves. Wetter, heavier snow will rob rpm more than light powder. I have seen this every year. I to highly recommend DJ's clutch kits for the Rev's and XP's. Good luck!:d:beer:

Thanks guys! A lot of good info on here. I should mention that I did change my track and drivers and I believe the lugs are larger and was told that this could change my clutching?! I'm gonna leave it for the time being but after May long take it apart and try to figure out wtf with some guys. I've had nothing but good things said about the DJ kits except for one bad review.

Last year I did replace the orings and buttons on my primary. I will get reading. Thanks again you guys. Clutching to me is like trying to learn latin...no idea where to start and it's VERY overwhelming.
