first thing ya do is order a dj clutch kit for your sled it'll come with instructions on what pin weight will b best for you.pop it in ,while your in there check all your rollers and give it a good cleaning .Then spend another 70 bones on quick clickers and then you can change clickers in a matter of seconds. It'll b like a brand new sled for 300....

Contact Joey (DJ Clutch Kits) at DJ at Snowmobile Clutch Kits, Dynamo Joe, mxzx revzone with your questions about clutching. He is very good to work with and he will give all sorts of good info about clutching. Also there are some very good step by step instructions on the above web site. And don't worry about doing the job your self just follow his on-line instructions and you will be fine. I put his clutch kit in my 03 Summit 600 HO and it made all the difference in the world for climbing and deep powder sledding. Now when I did this I had not torn a clutch apart in years so I was a little rusty but like I said before his web site has great instructions. Just have a little patient this time of year when you are dealing with Joey he does have another job in the summer months and usually he only checks his email once or twice a week. IMO tunning your clutch will give the biggest bang for your buck for maximizing power to your track.

yeah I did not service my clutches when I did the motor :( I didn't know. I thought doing them in the summer was ok.

Ok...what are pins and where the heck do they go?! Like inside the primary?! Or are those the "quick clickers" people are telling me to go with?!

also replace the bushing in your sliding half of the clutch well it is best to get a dealership to do it oh and your spring cap as well. and you should check your rollers, bushing, spring, spring cap and make sure everything is in good shape about every 1000km cause without all the parts in spec your sled will not perform to its maximum potential. oh this goes for your secondary as well make sure the bushings are in spec in there as well and spring.

The pins are in the arms. This is where you add wieght. They are inside the primary.

Hop on youtube and search for MXZ Revzone, Joey put up a bunch of maintenece videos. I would link here, but work says no to youtube. Once you see it done, it's really not hard at all to tackle yourself.

a guy whose opinion I trust VERY much told me to go Rooster Built Clutches over Dynamo Joe. Thoughts? I think I may follow his advice as he is the one who will probably be helping me...

Dynamo Joe kit? I was told those are good. But I don't understand how to install them or how to make it so I'm at around 3 or 4. There probably aren't instructions are there...

Ide Give him a Call he knows his stuff im sure he could tell you the exact setup and weight to start if it dont work at that then all youd have to change is your weights and im sure he can explain this to you.

But I've heard DJ is in the East coast where as rooster built is in the mtns.

I'm all for supporting Canadians, but if rooster built is a better product, I'd rather go with the better product.

Anyone else have any suggestions?! Roosterbuilt vs. DJ?

Dj kits have extensive testing done in the mountains.

There's a reason anyone who has seen one work recommends dj... they work!

Ugh...except for my friend whose telling me go Roosterbuilt, he had it on 2 sleds and didn't like them...and he's the one that will be helping me. I really do value the guys opinion, but it's hard when 99% of people say go DJ and no one has mentioned Roosterbuilt.

I did a thread search (thanks Pistonbroke for telling me how) and saw that a guy on here posted that he's had a couple friends have good results with RB

yep there are two in there they are on the sliding part one that rides on your helix you know who is really good with a clutch set up is dale at h2o in sicamous phone him he is really smart and tests his stuff and has the optimal set up where you will get max performance plus you wont be going through belts. just bring in your sled or even just your clutches and he will get er done for you and you will not be dissapointed with the results

I will keep that in mind. Prefer to do my own work though otherwise I'll never learn. I actually have yet to go through a belt! Even when the guy that sold me the sled had the wrong belt on it and I ran that my first year...

They both work. DJ's kits work and so do RB kits. For saying they do not work in the mountains....lots of guys running them that disagree.... :D

Saying they don't work and telling you why they don't work are different things.

I have a set of adjustable pins that I'm not using, you're welcome to try them out and see if they work for you. If the majority of the clutching is OK, then no need for a full kit just to gain some RPM back.

Keep in mind that the last time you rode it was warm and you were up very high (if the last time you rode was still the same place you told me). This combination will cause a lack of HP which means you have to clicker up. Again, no reason to change a full set up out if you are only looking to gain back some RPM. Most of these guys probably don't realize you're about 100 lbs soaking wet, literally! OK maybe a $1.10 with gear. That 800 is not working hard pulling you around at all.....

lmao...actually I weigh 145, lol. Kick boxing 5 days a week packs on some muscle... But thanks! That comment made my day! Glad to hear I don't look like I weigh as much as I do, haha. And I'm pretty sure my bag is a good 25-50lbs depending what I put in it. :p

haha another goodie bag from Modman?! Thanks! My clutching was fine prior to the new track and that last day weekend out at Forester where I told you. I haven't run it in powder since all the new changes. So I guess maybe just take her apart, clean it, make sure everything looks good, get some quick clickers and then wait till next season to see?!
