So I'm curious as to what the advantages are. I have a clutch kit on my quad(weights and springs) and noticed the difference it made. Will my sled be affected in a similar way with clutching? Any suggestions on what brand to go with for a 2012 freeride 154"x2.5"?

Also I'm looking to turbo next summer; would I have to change my clutching all over again?

Clutching defiantly effects how the sled works, after all it changes the way it shifts and can put the power to the track more efficiently. changing your clutching will help you to reach your desired rpm and keep it their. A lot of the newer clutch kits have adjustable weights to increase or decrease rpm's a lot easier. When you install your turbo you will have to re-clutch because you will have way more power. Put it this way, if you install a clutch kit with the stock hp (160ish on the etecs?) the weights will be set up heavy enough and spring light enough that it keeps the sled at a good rpm when WOT, when you install your turbo it will have a lot more hp so while the clutch was fine with stock hp, it will way over rev once the turbo is installed. Hope this helps, and sorry I don't know which clutch kit would be good for the freerides, maybe check out dynamo Joe? or contact Cory Micku?

Yes your sled will increase in preformance just like your quad did when properly clutched. Yes you will need to change your clutching set up when you get a turbo or anytime you add power. I would stay away from Dynamo joe for my mountain sled and look to guys that actually ride mountains everyday like the Micku's or a Roosterbuilt set up.

I have to disagree!!!! I Installed a DJ clutch kit last season on my 11 etec and it is amazing. I had all types of RPM issues and was boucing off of the rev limiter all the time. I spoke with Joe and he hooked me up with his summit kit. It completely eliminated my RPM issues, and let me tell you it pulls harder than ever before. Its a blast to ride. That being said....... I wouldnt bother even looking at a clutch kit until you do the turbo. There are way to many variables to play with and you most likely will require a completely differnt helix, spring and weights.
Figure out what your going to do with your turbo first........ Just my opinion.
Cheers and good luck.

If your planning on turboing next summer, talk to Ken at Mountain Magic he will put you into the right clutching so you dont have to spend abunch more money after you turbo, Im running paragon secondary and a P-85 primary on my etec turbo.

Why is it that some people say to use a p85 yet others say not to put it on? Do they perform in a specific way that suits certain riding types? Because if they're just flat out better than everyone would recommend one but that's not the case.

I put a DJ clutch kit on my 09 summit and wasn't impressed. I am going to try SPI kit this year. Give Deano670 on here a call and he can set you up with clutching that works for the XPs
