Alright guys I’m scratching my head on this one. So I bought the wife a 2015 163 pro and it has a stage 3 kit on it, so I took it for a spin once I got everything fixed up on it and noticed that if I turn left and the clutch starts to engage the belt chatters bad, if I turn right it clears right up. Now the same thing happens if I tip it up on the left side, I start to engage the clutch and the belt chatters like mad, I tip it up so the right side is in the air and it cleans right up. Nothing seams noticeably loose so I’m having trouble pin pointing the problem, any thoughts or ideas?

That was my first thought but when I grab the primary and try to move the engine without the belt on it’s pretty tough to move, and I can see the motor mount rubbers moving slightly. My second thought was maybe a bottom end bearing.... which I’m hoping not.

if you have a small mirror and a good light try to get under the engine for a look. a mount may be broke in the middle or a mount bolt broke off in the bottom of the engine.
its a place to start. also look for a cracked bulk head. if it has a skid plate it may be cracked under it.

Check the secondary, sounds like it might have some missing spacers/washers, or the secondary bolt is backed halfway out. Otherwise engine mounts or jackshaft bearings.

I can't in anyway see it being related to the crank bearings.

Secondary washers are all there and it’s torqued to the proper spec.

I’ve suspected the engine mounts from the beginning, I’ll strip it down tomorrow and take a closer look

Might be worthwile to check limiter-torque stop while your looking around the engine mount area. Just replaced one on a 2017' 800.

I found it, not a single bolt holding the engine to the engine mounts on the magneto side

Wait for it............right about now Maxwell will chime in about how this is a Polaris thing and would never happen to Doo.

A friend's sled always breaks the bolt on the rear mag side. Steangest thing. The PTO side should be the most stressed.

If your bolts are broke off it's ignorant to get the broken piece out in place.

I ended up taking the bottom plate off to access everything and was asked by my dealer how I managed to remove it considering the grey material is structural compound. So now I’m borrowing there mixing nozzles to reinstall the plate once everything is back together. There was no broken bolts in the engine mounting holes, just one bolt still sitting loose up in the front. I’m assuming these should have loc tite on them or at least they are going to once I’m done. This sled has. been a project since I bought it, hopefully this is the last thing to fix.

I wonder if the previous owner ever bolted the mounts back up on that side when they did the timing key. When I was doing stage kits in this chassis I would always pull the upper can mount and both mag side mount bolts so I could angle the engine enough to pull the recoil. Might even be worth digging a little deeper just to make sure the key is in the right way. Wouldn’t be the first one I have seen installed backwards.
