You couldn't be more right Scott. Learning curve.

Not to sure really what a person does either. I rode my youngest out to his buddies yesterday and then left them on their own,
Was worried all day, but I've tried to tell, show him/them all the dangers but as the vid shows things happen really fast..
thanks for posting the vid though as I'll be showing him it tonight..

I am thinking that neither age nor skill had as much to do with what happened as the lack of snow to hold a carve on. That comes down to a judgement call that any one of us could misjudge. Glad nobody was hurt, sleds can be replaced.

Wow, glad nobody was hurt. But still a dick move to try and carve with only a few inches of snow.

Wouldn't have been a problem had his buddy been farther than 50feet away. If you want to pull "stunts" don't do it so close to others.... Glad no one was hurt

I'll be showing my boy this video as well.
I don't believe for a second that "everybody" expected the outcome. It's called an accident.
Fortunately, all but the cat survived👍

damn .. both those vid's were brutal !!!

from my days of snowboarding and now sledding, so many people remember how good they were riding last season, how good the spring snow was, how deep it was and forget all rational thought coz they are buzzing about being on snow.
I'll stop ranting ...

With experience on a sled you overcome the instinct to squeeze with your whole right hand/thumb (and thus going WFO) in a panic situation. Some catch on quicker but it takes training and muscle memory.

I've seen this myself a few times with novices. They can put around for hours no problem but something bucks them unexpectedly and instant full throttle when they just clamp down.

Nobody got hurt and they'll learn from it!But it just shows lack of experience! And I've seen 'old' guys do it too! When there is grass sticking out there's not enough snow to carve!

No one is immune to this sort of thing, they're called accidents for a reason. Good judgement comes from experience, and a lot of that comes from bad judgment. Glad the boys are okay.
