Glen to you have a template for the signs? I might be able to get some made through work, they would it be metal though

Lost creek and Wilkerson. They put a new in along the river which used a section of the old cataract trail. We need to still check out this section and mark a reroute. Kaz Dog is in meetings with the government a few day this week and I just got called to work. Might be back out there Friday. Watch for my grooming gear along the trail as I had to leave it there. To much to load it onto my truck by myself and couldn't make it up a hill on a new reroute section of trail. I was chicken to try by myself. There are some nice new bridges out there to make river crossing safe. Thanks to the flood repair for those.

We get them from the Alberta Snowmobile Association as a member club building safe responsible snowmobile trails. But we need some metal posts and special signs also. Thanks

Let me know what type of signs and how big. They would be a plastic lamacoid style but you could attach them to a metal backing

For those of you who are pissing down both pantlegs to get into Fording Pass area you better be aware of Avy Conditions. Ferniesnow just posted some pics of a bad Hoar Frosts in the Elk Valley area. Know before you go. Lets be safe out there all you Fording Pass riders

Only three bridges were able to be installed this year. There are two, new "large" bridges; one on Valley Bottom Trail and the other on Etherington Trail. The third bridge is a "smaller" bridge on Baril Creek Trail. There are more bridges to be installed next year, but as they say, Rome wasn't built in a day.
Glen informed me of the situation on the new bridge on the Valley Bottom Trail, the one that leaves the campground and takes a new re-route on the trail. There was a break down in communication with this repair, as the new re-route was not supposed to go "back" to the washed-out stream further south, but rather continue on eastside "around the washout" and rejoin the trail on top of a rise - or below the rise. We may still be able to correct this re-route this early winter, but I have yet to discuss this with the Backcountry Trail Flood Rehabilitation group (BTFR). We are meeting, yet again, either before the upcoming weekend, or right after it, at this time.
With having limited funds from the Backcountry Trails Flood Rehabilitation project to be spread over a landmass stretching from the north border of Waterton National Park to west of the Rocky Mountain House area, representing all trail users - motorized and none motorized over three years- we can not have everything repaired immediately.
That said, we have had discussions already this fall about three more bridges for next year - two on Cataract Creek Trail and one on Oyster Excursion Trail. There are others that are needed, and they will be covered in upcoming discussions. We will see what future funds are available for Cataract Creek Snow Vehicle P.L.U.Z. Snowmobile Trails from the BTFR project group.

Will if anyone is there when we are, and willing to open their wallet for an Alberta Snowmobile Association (ASA) day pass, or an C.S.C. club membership/ASA yearly pass. Trail Passes are not mandatory, but sure show us volunteers encouragement for the work we do for all, and allow us to do more. Remember, in many areas of B.C. this year a day pass is $25. An ASA day pass is $20 and a club membership/yearly trail pass is currently $90 until the end of December, moving to $100 on January 1, 2016.
Remember....you do not have to live in Calgary to be a member of the club, we have members from all over southern Alberta, who are passionate about snowmobiling and also very interested in the future rebuilding and grooming we can do at Cataract Creek Snowmobile Trails/Snow Vehicle P.L.U.Z.

Etherington for now. You can ride from Cataract Creek, but you will be "trail searching" right now. With the re-route of the Lost Creek Road by Spray Lakes Sawmill, we have lost part of Cataract Creek Trail.
There has been a re-route planned, with a crossing of the road needed to be signed as of yet. This re-route will follow along the south side of the valley half way down the valley, then cross over to the north side, and re-join the Cataract Creek trail not far east from Raspberry Pass Trail.
When the logs are finished being hauled out of the valley by mid-January - or sooner - we will be able to groom and use the Lost Creek Road.

Yeah trails are in good shape. Anyone looking for anything more than a trail ride is shat out of luck.
Ren did you stage at Etherington? Might have seen you on the trail, a group of four passed us as we were stopped, I think they all had Go-Pros.
I met met a older guy and his wife on the trails, real nice couple. he's a poster here and a CSC member, can't remember his Snow and Mud handle or his real name though, I'm terrible with names. He helped me get the wife stuck and then we cleared a tree that had fallen across the trail. The wife went over the logged to slow and got high centred lol.

Where is the trail head for valley bottom at the north end?

Hey JZ1. It was good meeting you and your wife today on the trails. Unless it has been changed the north end of the Valley Bottom trail is accessed through the Etherington campground. Take the trail to the left just as you leave the parking lot instead of going straight out to the open area by the group shelter. That will take you through the campground to get to the valley bottom trail. Not sure which loop you take within the campground though.
The Conservation Officer was opening the gates this evening.
Nice job on the trails Glen!
