It's just the rear shock.
About $1k.

Oh ok, the rear suspension I had, it came with the evol R fox shock. That suspension soured me to air shocks, worked great when it was new, than the issues started.

Im sure the technology of todays air shocks is way better, but I dont want to travel down that road again.

To bring it back on topic here a bit, did the 850 problems drive some customers towards Cat and Polaris? Absolutely.
But I would suggest that it wasn't the hardcore base of customers that went away, it was the fairweather fans,, the bandwagoners...
If you see Maxwell and Fernie ext switch over to Cat or Polaris, then Doo better start to worry....

Personally if I was going to buy a brand new sled for this season it would be the 850 Freeride.

I am absolutely no ferniesnow and have no desire to be a maxwell but had been riding doo for over 28 years and have absolutely no desire to buy another one of their products.
6 out of the first 8 Alphas where I bought mine were the same that had enough of their 850s.
Take that how ever you want and feel free to misconstrue as you see fit.
Doo had issues and dumped on their customers and even made them pay for doos fawked design.
FACT
Feel free to misconstrue that also.

Has the 17 850 dud still got issues.
I'd say there are enough layers of fixes over the last three years hid any issue to an acceptable level.

One thing I did and always will say is they fawken rip when working well.

Now you voided the warranty and believe me, there ain't no goodwill or sheets given about your 20 years of owning the brand. Warranty denied.
Yea ok. Spend 8200 just to make it rideable and it still is a tailstanding pile of junk. Only 4% are affected but all the 850's are constructed exactly the same. That makes absolutely no sense. Lemme into the Doo records and we can see how 4% really is. 100% of 850's that I know blow belts and motors. 4%. Bs. I love telling the truth when someone is lying.
Doolaide be some powerful stuff. Love is in the air.

You asked a question and I answered and yes lots of long term doolaiders did leave over the 850's issues.
When the next series comes out and if they have their poop together maybe I'll get another one but not likely as I would like to try a Poo next.

It wasn't a question, it was a statement. You obviously misconstrued that. I honestly didnt realize you were such a loyal doo customer though. It's sad to see a good doolaider go haha

Lol yah can feel the love in this thread tonight, its entertaining.
With all of doos history on first year engine and chassis releases, is still makes me wonder why guys bought the 850 when it first came out, I tried to talk my buddy out of it, but he got one and it was an amazing sled.
Some guys had great luck some guys had poor luck.

Yeah I'm probably the only guy on the planet that snow checked a 17 800 etec freeride. I thought I made a bad choice when I saw how hard the 850's ripped, until they all started chitting the bed. Then I knew I made a wise choice. My buddies 18 850 freeride worked mint last season though and my other friends 18 cat went through 3 motors and spent 90 days in the shop....

Think the 19 freeride will be dialed

I've had no worries with any of the G4 releases. Did I get lucky? Or is it dealer related?

Great question, when seeing photos on other forums of brand new sleds with the front shocks installed upside down, makes a person wonder.
When talking to a well known speed shop in the states I was informed that the pdrive wobble was measured in his shop as much as .050”.

I measured the runout on my sled, and my buddies and they were the same, they both came in below spec.
