Bart, I have had no reason to change my loyalty. I left Poo due to motor issues back in 2004 and I'm not like some who put in 4 motors and still tout the brand! I'm a happy camper with my dealer (Bow Ridge Sports) and my salesman (snopro). Life is good even with tight undies.

Hey buddy, sorry if that sounded bad, meant it as a light hearted poke at you both. I agree with many posters who have stated - ALL BRANDS HAVE THEIR ISSUES, as all brands have also had their firsts (hence my statement about steering posts and 4 strokes). I've towed them all off the hill. My first sled was a 1976 Everest TnT 440 for the record, and yes I've been riding almost that long. In that time I've seen great advances, and some real duds, from all the manufacturers. Its always surprising to me the lack of respect people have for other brands, and how defensive they get. Most of them simply havent been around long enuf to understand that what they think is an advancement, was actually developed by someone like them, decades prior.

There was a guy in Castlegar that was running a 3" plastic paddle back in the late 90's. The rider forward position - try looking up FAST's Blade to see a early millenial proto. I could go on and on. Let's just celebrate the sport and enjoy the fact that we are among the folks out there riding, rather than focusing on what we are riding.

Last winter I was lucky enough to try all three two stroke sleds. All around I felt the 18 cat was the nicest. Was so easy to handle and control, smooth power delivery.

The polaris was so good at holding its edge and sidehilling, super stable on its feet. But lacked power in comparison to the cat. Didn’t have the pull, maybe it’s the track or snow conditions.

The 850 has good power, and the steering I like a lot more in comparison to the vertical steering on the cat. The playfulness of the sled was a riot and being able to power out of lots was fun.

But for me, I think the Cat was my style, the steering can be fixed, the engine is proven, the suspension is good, panels are a huge improvement, the clutching is phenomenal. And the track is by far the best of the three.

Always a pissing contest, touting which brand is best. I’m not brand loyal in any way, I buy from the dealer who looks after me after the sale, guess I’m getting old. I’ve had good sleds, great sleds, and I’ve had my share of junk, too. (Some of which was rider induced). Frankly, the sleds today have more capability then I have talent lol. Ride and buy what you want, thank god we have choices, and if one manufacturer has the upper hand every couple years, it prompts the others to take notice and push the envelope...

Yes this post is comical.... who really cares what everyone else’s rides. If I could I would have all the brands in my barn!!! If all works out I’m adding an Alpha to the fleet with the Sidewinder & my doo!! I’m a loyal Yamaha guy all my life and so was my father so it just tricked through. I’ve been treated excellent from the local Yamaha dealerships all my life (it’s changed hands a lot over the years). The local Polaris dealerships have been good to me over the years as well.

I just love sledding so just have fun and be safe.

Its too bad so many hate the Yamaha... the Sidewinder is really a fun diamond in the rough.
