Haha. Thanks for the stuck picture... I blame that stuck on you and your 5 ft deep ruts.

I should have taken a picture of both of us stuck at the beginning of the day.

I'll post mine tonight.

Snow was pretty good considering. With a little hunt we found a lot of fresh and made short notice of it!

VERY BUSY at Castle. Not overly busy, but the place is normally empty.

Think I have a few fundamentals down?

  • do not ride into a tree
  • do not steer into tree well
  • do not stop uphill in powder
  • throttle is your best friend
  • help dig your buds out from stucks
  • buy beer for those who help dig you out

I think I'm getting the jig of it here! lmao

And the old adage of "if you don't try you don't learn"

There is a time and place, but unless you don't "givver", you will never know or learn.

Highlights should be put on the above important points:

1) DON"T STOP IN BAD PLACES. These stucks are simply not needed. Railing through trees and getting stuck or hitting a tree is permissible. Simply stopping in a bad spot only to trench down isn't.

It's extremely easy to find, however with everything there are precautions. First, you travel through some avy runs on the way up. They look innocent but they aren't. You can't see whats above. Secondly, you should always ride with other people. Safety in numbers.

That being said, I'll send you a message on how to go into that area.

Shibby we saw you guys on Saturday. You even stopped and chatted with us. But you gotta get your story straight. There's no snow around here! All the snow is in Revy. Everyone else should go there. Besides, you tracked up all the gullys. ;)

Bahah =) We sure did.

Yea, I tend to like to keep certain areas quiet, but I was amazed at how many were there that weekend.

At the end of the day if there is good snow to enjoy, anybody's free to enjoy it.

How was your ride the rest of the day? We just played in the gullies and trees. Never did make it over the pass.

We had a good day playing in the trees mostly in our favorite spots. Not many tracks on the big open hills yet. Good to see guys being careful. The trail sucks already, because there has been a lot of traffic. Typical for the holiday season.

Apparently they don't groom it anymore?

I remember when I first started riding there it was groomed to the clear cut block. That was SWEET. One local said it was the army guys doing it?

It'll be good and bumpy for the rest of the year unless some massive dumps and lack of usage smooth it out.

Ya technically castle mtn is not allowed to groom the trail they did it the odd times for the army guys for some easy access for them but it used to be a guy named glen who worked the groomers who would sneak out here and there and plow and groom the main trail
