Maybe that said dickhead local was the same guy I talked to like 12 years ago lol. Was stopped for a bite to eat in creston while passing through during summer of 07. me and a buddy were bull****ting about sledding, I said it looks like wicked terrain around here I would really like to come down here and do some riding. Out of nowhere this guy that was sitting behind us gets up and walks by our table and stops and says just so you know we don’t like you Alberta clowns coming down here trying to ride our areas, they are for locals only and you idiots just get them shut down and then just walks off. I thought wow you talk to people like that where I’m from you get your face smashed in. Haven’t been back since, but not because of that incident, my skins thick enough to know he’s just a retard

Holy man that is embarrassing. That dickhead is not representative of our people lol. There was kind of a founder syndrome mentality that existed for a very long time in our club. It was a toxic kind of "I own this mine mine mine" mentality. I am so happy with our club now. Over the past 7 years lots of changes for the good have occurred. We have a fresh New President, Fresh faces on the board, who are younger like 20's and 30's which I believe is so awesome for our club spirit and momentum.

Sounds like it’s really coming along, one day I’d like to make the trek down there and ride, used to snowboard a lot down there in the early 2000’s and loved the terrain

Oh man you'd love it. I'll have to introduce you to our Ymir Crew who are not only badarse sledders and snow bikers, many of them are epic backcountry skiers and boarders. Remember the off grid house we lived in in Ymir.. Our backyard was literally the same drainage as Whitewater! Let us know TMO IG message me or give our shop a call if you're planning on coming out.

That’s awesome, I will for sure, might have to do it up next year, been thinking it’s time to start branching out from our usual valemount, blue river and mcbride areas, thx for the invite Momma

Those dickheads are everywhere, in every club. Unfortunately getting more common than less in my experience. Should not be considered indicative of the good people, but often are.

Lots of things to consider for sure. The permit is issued to the club, not individuals. I really do appreciate feedback that I can take back to the Ministry and science team. You do bring up a good point and have got the wheels turning in my head. As with any new process, there are bound to be a few bugs to work out.
So if the closure is not even in a clubs management agreement they can get a permit and force people to join their club to ride there?

This is an important question, since the only legal closure on the east side of the Purcells is in Angus creek, which is no where near the Cranbrook clubs managed riding area.

Can you send me an email with your specific concerns, so I can work through the process and ensure all of your questions are asked and answered by the powers in charge? please also include suggestions that you feel will facilitate the process and allow for fair usership tdrinkle@yahoo.ca

Couple of guys out of Likely got their sleds impounded for being out of bounds

GOOD! I wish this would happen more often.

Hopefully as a united group, we can get some of our terrain back that does not hold a current Caribou population but riding in current closures is not the way we will ever win our battle.

I see tracks in closures directly by signs and I often wonder why the few of us continue to battle on behalf of a group that can be so selfish and self harming. It's taking me longer and longer lately to come back out of the negativity and realize the most of us are amazing people just wanting to enjoy the backcountry, so we press on.

Ride safe
