That’s normal for the Pass. They don’t like outsiders in their areas. The entire Darkwoods area when rideable before all the restrictions was off limits to anyone not from Creston. I won’t even buy fuel in Creston for fear of supporting their exclusive community.

Where the fawk is this coming from??? Some very nice people in this valley who are more than happy to show people around.

But you keep on with your gas station boycott. Its making a difference

Comes right from the staging area when you pull up there bud.

If I didn’t need to drive through Creston to get to my destination it wouldn’t hurt my feelings any. If I can keep even one of my hard earned pennies from making a difference there I will.

There are many clubs with exclusive access to areas for club members only.

Where? There are a few that have permit systems in place in Caribou habitat, but any club operating on crown land with a management agreement with the Province does not have exclusive access. They only have the right to charge a user fee to cover the cost of grooming. If they don't have a management agreement, they don't even have that.

part of our permit is that you must be a club members to ride in the permitted area. It’s been that way since we started getting this permit. Our club is the holder of the permit. When the chopper lands we must produce proof of membership, a physical copy of the permit (at least one in the group) insurance and registration and as stupid as it sounds your actually drivers license. If you done have a membership or day pass and the copy of the permit you will receive the same fine as if you are riding in closed area. I don’t make the rules I just try to follow them. If we have any violations to our area club memeber or not we take the hit. We are also responsible for voluntary closures if tracks or animals are seen and reporting any violations we spot. We have been specifically told though we are not police and not expected to be.

If through hard hard work and dedication this club has opened an area through this permit system this is great. I’m not sure why you are so against it. This permit works as long as everyone plays by the rules.

How many times has this happened to you? Different people each time? There are some typical "locals" here, like anywhere, but lots of great people too. Maybe you just caught someone on the wrong day, maybe you found a douchebag, or maybe they sensed a chip on your shoulder......who knows.

If anyone else wants to ride the area there are always people that would be happy to take them out. Just pm me or momma and we will hook you up.

It only happened once and I took that as how Creston riders treat outsiders. It was a club executive or so he claimed and when I inquired about membership he said they didn’t offer it to non residents.

So if that’s a chip on my shoulder you can keep your stupid comments to yourself. And judging by your comments above I can see not a lot has changed.

I have since shown myself around the area and gladly give my money to clubs who actually enjoy having non residents and promote tourism to their areas.

Already explained why in post #6.

Are you serious?? So one guy, one time is not welcoming and you write off an entire community and encourage others to as well?

Im pretty sure i know who you are talking about. I was visiting this area a long time ago and the club president at that time (SUPER nice guy) had arranged for me to go out with this guy. Long story short he left me behind. Yes, not a nice or welcoming guy at all. Could have written off the town at that point I guess but instead chose to see him for the bad apple he is. Met some super nice people shortly after that were happy to show me around and the rest is history (I moved here). Bad apple guy is no longer a part of the club.

Back to the thread........great job Trish. I know you put in a LOT of hard work over many years to make this happen. We gained back literally the best riding area in the entire valley. Cant wait

I see you can’t help yourself and now are making stuff up. Where have I encouraged others to write off the community?

When I was interested in learning about the area I did the proper thing and was proactive and wanted to be onside with any requirements and aware of any restrictions and I was not welcomed. When a representative of the local club tells you such you are in turn supposed to feel warm and fuzzy?

Just because I chose to do something and express my opinion based on my own experience I am not suggesting others follow suit, though the more you continue to try and berate my posts I may take a different approach.

You dont think spreading negative mis-information about our area is discouraging people from coming? You had ONE bad experience with ONE guy ONE time. You could have contacted someone else and cleared this up but instead you chose to make a public and incorrect statement about our community.

Hi guys. Not gonna lie.. I was avoiding this thread as I had some hurt feelers, and a couple tears of frustration... but I decided to put my grannie panties back on and come back here.

Jeff, for clarity sake, any of the BCSF clubs can apply for a permit for closure areas, we are kind of the test pilot, but I have worked with 3 other clubs to help them get their permit application in on the Front Counter BC site. It's a very new process, with a few bugs to be worked out but it's getting there.
Another thing to make note of, if you are an existing member of a bcsf club, to join another, you do not pay the 36.75 ish BCSF portion of that membership again, just the club portion, making it more affordable.

I really do appreciate the positive feedback, and my intention is to help us gain back not only lands, but credibility in the eyes of the Ministry, COS, the RIG group, General population of Starbucks and Cement general public who are fed loads of crap and believe it, helping us preserve and protect our riding areas by being a part of the process and solution.

Thanks again.

Seymour Arm as described by Team Dirt. A club in the North Thompson also has a club member only area as well annual permitted rides into a provincial park/caribou area that is only open to club members.

Yes there are a very few permit systems in caribou areas. I already stated that. You made the statement "There are many clubs with exclusive access to areas for club members only". That's simply not true.

Do your parents know you are using the computer? LOL
He’s not saying you are a liar , he is saying you are judging a community on what sounds like an isolated incident.
I guess you might as well add Edmonton to your no gas up zone .

I would still pay the full bcsf fee for a second membership

But heck, where I live I don't need to travel far, so second membership is silly

And if I do I pay the trail pass just cause
