The European Union has carbon pricing schemes of some kind in all member countries too.

What needs to be discussed is "Carbon Leakage", which is when carbon intensive industries leave countries with carbon taxes for countries without them. Like is currently happening in Canada. The end result is global Carbon emissions almost don't change, it just penalizes citizen in countries that have implemented the tax.

Totally agree…
This is like what happened when BRP moved the majority of its manufacturing to Mexico…

Like I said. Under the Turds leadership. Polievre has already he won’t be a part of that crap. You should look into that. He is anti WEF big time.
Your having a hard time understanding this is not a democracy and whether it’s liberals/ conservatives, NDP, Polievre or Trudeau they are just sock puppets run by the socialist regime of the British monarchy that dictates our country….

Look what happened to J.Kenny, he stood up for less than 24hrs got his peepee spanked/ threatened and conformed. Now disappeared forever. Those hierarchy threats to you and your family will either kill u or make u disappear for the better health of your existence

Yup, and then give the money back with huge strings attached. Like the Billions he announced for housing yesterday that Alberta will likely get zero of, because I don't think Danielle Smith will bend to his political will.

Giving money to "alberta" isn't what Im after. Put the billions in my account then Ill be happy...

Money means nothing in a country, you can produce and spend or offer subsidies, bailouts, foreign aid etc. as much as you want to care for citizens or outside people with little to no affect to your economy.

Ever since the value of money was disconnected from gold stored in its measurement, the value of a countries economy and strength of its dollar comes down to its GDP.

Not really, printing money does effect a country, a lot actually, why do you think we have such high inflation right now? Because Trudeau set the money printer to max and left it there for almost 2 years.

I'm not convinced a return to the gold standard would be beneficial, the gold standard is actual believed to have lengthened and worsened the effects of the Great Depression, because it inhibited the governments ability to put money into the economy and get people back to work.

Consequently too much printed money in the economy is also a bad thing. We probably should quit electing dumb people that say things like "the budget will balance itself".

Real GDP is a measure of monetary policy and all those characteristics.

Freeland is a f’n moron and doesn’t even have the education or experience for the job yet she’s the finance minister. Really highlights the intelligence of our leading party and supporting voters…

Get out while u can. The script is already written…

Real GDP is a measure of all those characteristics.

Not at all.

GDP is the value of goods and services produced in a country over a period of time. Real GDP is just a different way of expressing that value taking into account the effects of inflation.

Inflation and GDP are very different measures in an economy, although in a perfect world they should both stay together at a low, but consistent rate.

There will still be crap. Climate change is one and how to deal with it. I prefer technology to taxation. I mean think about it. He takes your money through taxation then gives it back? Really? How many beurocrats are getting paid to launder that scam? How do I lower my carbon footprint? We farm as clean as we possibly can with current technology. I have to drive 4 miles round trip for my mail. Same for bread and milk. I have to drive 2 hours round trip to get good groceries. I drive 1 hr round trip for farm parts. I drive 2 hour round trip to see my grandkids. For the slob that lives in downtown hippyville Edmonton they have no need for a car. Everything is within 2 blocks. Problem is those are the people making policy.
I think that's part of the plan. It's starting to look like my wife's conspiracy theorist grandpa was right. Just move into a 15 minute city

Maybe you could flee to this latest incarnation of Argentina??? What could be better than no govt. services at all, maybe complete chaos? Take all the hard earned money you've earned in Canada over your career and invest it in a true economy with no protections and few laws. I don't know if you're blue collar or not, but as a litmus test a welder in Argentina earns less than the equivalent of $5,000 US/yr. or $2.21/hr., how many welders in the oil patch would be willing to do that job for those wages? Probably not a lot left over to buy a $10,000 sled.

Just to be clear, the majority of the world's population is dirt poor and can only dream of having the standard of living you're so anxious to flee from in Canada. Political and economic stability comes at a cost, maybe be grateful for the advantage you were born with.

Thx for your input. Your Argentina argument actually is one of the best examples of what is happening in Canada and it is an excellent source to support my comments. Lol.

“Argentina once one of the wealthiest countries in the world, now one of the poorest thanks to the leftest government which clogged up the arteries of the economy with to many regulations. Now inflation is out of control.”

Sound familiar?

Geezuz how much red Koolaid did you drink at the liberal convention to be brainwashed into thinking getting bent over and azz f’d without consent is good for you?

this would be like saying you were in a good relationship that turned abusive. but as long as others out there are getting beaten worse you should suck it up and accept it.......and that if you do leave the only option to go to for another relationship is the redneck down the road that lets you go out to the bush pick your own switch.....most people are just saying there may be better options out there if this ship doesn't right itself.....

Most importantly, somewhere you can get a working visa or permanent residency status. To live long term. Some countries, like in the Caribbean, have citizenship by investment. But if you had that kind of money, you wouldn't need to leave in the first place.

Yes that would be nice but just not feasible. My aunt and uncle bought a $3million usd property in Turcs and Caicos cash money, full citizens within a month. Helps to have cash and they got out. My uncle is a smart man and has seen this chit coming for a long time. Now he’s laughing

You can basically buy a passport there for 100g. That's not bad, that's what a truck costs.
