I half agree with you.....Red Ford was a disaster although I think the Danielle Smith/Jim Prentice love-in/wild rose party smasher was the deciding moment for a lot of Albertans. When they floated down the stairs hand in hand and announced the massive floor crossing by most of the wild rose......it pissed a lot of people off. Respect for both of them basically plummeted from then on.....never gained any momentum after that

We are all products of carbon, my goal is to produce as much of it as I can in my life time since it puts food on the table for everyone.

Comes at a coast so be it as the funds "could or not" benefit the system,,, purhaps we look at this tax as a flop.

The funds could end up in the pockets of the rich as they return pittons of it too us poor folk.

The funds "could" be pill-furred off to hidden investments, and other corruption practises which benefit wars around the world.

And it "might" be worth spending multi billions of dollars on wind and solar power projects that most likely "could" fail.

All good as the world runs on lost funds and waist of tax payers dollars,,, why would we here in the Americas want something too work out when the system is set-up too fail.

All I know is that I'll burn this or that at who evers expense as I/we all pay this fake tax that makes the whole system rich or poor in the unknowns.

Carbon tax governments that implemented it are out of office in other countries, the powers too be here will see them depart too as the next party that will axe it be in power.

I'm non political and ain't smart at stuff, but relax and take on the challange as this small blip will soon be a joke of history as the people take back the county with power of vote.

Share this change peacefully with all one comes across as the lines of what country you, your family and friends invission the kinda country one wants to live in.

My prediction only is we will see our speaking party return.
Kinda like a holiday as they get their p@@p in a sc@@p once again, LOL.

All good as all of us ramp up for next change of leader-ship.

Doesn't really matter who "lost" it's the winner you have to deal with. Anyway I do feel there is a better way to go about it then this tax. Few years back BC introduced the HST and ended up getting tossed out rather quickly mostly because the vast majority of idiots didn't recognize how it worked. In the end it was forced to a referendum and thrown out. Can the same not happen with the federal carbon tax. Can we the people not force the government to put it to a vote?

Not that the conjecture matters now but I think prentice was just another out of touch career politician that had leftist tendencies but called himself a conservative. Don't forget the favor he did day one on the job, increased tax on pump gas 4 cents per litre, he was not a practioner of fiscal constraint that Ralph was and that's what got this province cooking 20 years ago. IMO it will take 20 years more to correct the damage the left of center political culture in Canada is doing.

Didn't read all the comments but it chaps my azz because this isnt a tax. It's wealth redistribution, plain and simple. Why not call a spade a fawking spade.

Sort of. Cap and trade is the wealth redistribution scheme. I like how they call it a "levy" or "initiative", anything but a tax. They claim that the revenue will go to "green" initiatives and create jobs in "sustainable energy" sector. In other words, it will create multiple government jobs to collect the tax and then give the money to pet projects of the left wing environmental crowd that are trendy with the NDP.
No serious businesses will invest any of their own money in any of these schemes, because they know that the money generated by this tax will only exist until the next election. The upcoming joint conservative/ wild rose coalition will kill this tax on day one, leaving any projects hanging with no funding.
Right now 2/3 of albertans are against the carbon tax. Once it's implemented and everyone sees how much more everything costs, and how many jobs are lost as business leaves the province for the states, that number will grow substantially.

I burnt 50 lbs of carbon today, wonder how much tax is on it.

It was a used brown bag of money that I no longer needed, dam,,, what a stupped idea as I could of recycled it into toilet paper.

That calculator is way on the low side, id say triple the tax amount! Dont forget about all the carbon levees are added to the freight. A new car, truck even a new snowmobile will be more cause of the carbon tax.
