So in hind sight would it not have been better to have a small sales tax all along or is the Alberta govt planning on using this carbon tax as a different format of a sales tax? It's hard to understand the rebate end of it honestly. Can carbon tax be written off the same as a sales tax?

How about a fawkin drop in taxes to increase investor confidence!!!!!
And no new taxes .......!!!!

In 2017, you will pay approximately $736.56 in taxes
and your household will be eligible for $0.00 in rebates
That's a net cost of $736.56
In 2018, you will pay approximately $1119.84 in carbon taxes,
and your household will be eligible for $0.00 in rebates.
That's a net cost of $1119.84.

If we were to live in dipperland, that is how it would effect us. (Haven't looked at senior discounts yet)

In them hills.
Might as well create a tax for world peace. It would have the same effect on our planet.
Frenchie has an open cheque book for that. Already gave away billions.

He will buy his retirement Job in the UN one way or another.

Really amazing that this CO2 tax never went to a referendum.

There is no mention of the cost of electricity? How much extra are you guys going to pay for electrical consumption which is mainly derived from coal at the present and a huge carbon contributor?

I see you stated "who in there right mind thinks these things up"
well there you go, when your brain functions in the same way as a spaghetti stranger you have your Answer.
I like the idea of just let people spend what they make and building confidence in business vs. Taking it from them.

The NDP has a plan for electricity in AB.
On top of the 98 million she needs to pay existing power companies for cancelling existing contracts, another I'm smarter than everyone else half thought hair brain scheme.
I haven't seen them do one thing right yet so my hopes of this working in favour of Albertans is slim.

Time to get the right united, not sure I'm a huge fan of either Kenny or Jean but these two parties NEED to get it together to oust this dumb b itch in 2019 and hopefully repeal the damage concurrently with ousting mr selfie.

No one wants to pay taxes especially more taxes but like I mentioned before the money has to come from some place to pay social services, health care, schools, money wasted towards indian bands, the war on fentynal and paying for JT to continue his cozy life back east. Who better to do it then the middle class because we will always get up and go to work. I honestly do believe it is just a wash tax, make the bleeding hearts feel good tax to pay for government miss management of funds. Anyone remember the giant hole in the ozone that was a hot topic years ago? Any idea how big it is now?

As always , the NDP has not taken into account the added cost of doing buisness will be passed on to the consumer.... So in fact the costs to live will be much ,much higher than just the initial tax .
This reduces disposable income which in turn hurts all buisness.
Thus decreasing tax revenue accordingly.
So this tax is far from a wash !
The NDP will never understand this , as evidenced by their ability to totally bankrupt every province they govern !

Be thankful that Jack Layton had passed on. Not that im happy the guy died but if he was still alive I think there would be very little question it would be a federal NDP government running things today. Regardless of what party he represented Jack Layton would be in power today, unfortunate he represented the NDP

Jack was a lot more likeable ( better BS er) than his replacement , but would never of been prime minister... IMO Lord , knows we got sucked in enough with JT . Jack was just as crooked as they come too...
Research his jumping medical lineups for private clinics ...!total hypocrite.

On a side note it's no surprise to see JT break another election promise as he appears to have no extra cash for his promised extra funding for health care ...
BIG surprise there, that's what happens when you give billions & billions of our tax $$ away to country's who tend to despise our way of life ..,!

You would have to pretty close minded to think otherwise. Jack would have smashed Justin hands down. I'm not a NDP fan but he could talk circles around that stuttering fool Justin.

ha ha....call me pretty, call me close minded....call me what you want....the federal NDP have about the same chance to win an election as Rachel Notley.........

let me clarify......Miss Notley did NOT WIN the election, Jim Prentice and his PC party LOST the election......big difference.....

wait 2 years and we will see if she has a hope in hell of winning an election
