I'd kinda forgot I even had it on till about halfway through, then felt like a ass, but then thought, it is a red/white Canada Touque so maybe it's ok....

A point of order.........it is toque!

A toque (/ˈtk/[SUP][1][/SUP] or /ˈtɒk/ is a type of hat with a narrow brim or no brim at all.[SUP][2][/SUP] They were popular from the 13th to the 16th century in Europe, especially France. Now, it is primarily known as the traditional headgear for professional cooks, except in Canada where the term is primarily used for knit caps.[SUP][2

Yes, a respect thing, one should remove all head gear, IMHO. That is the Canadian tradition!

the terms tuque and toque are unique to Canada and northern areas of the United States close to the Canadian border....

a good read: http://forum.calgarypuck.com/archive/index.php/t-87295.html[/SUP]

I would love to know how taking your hat off is a symbol of respect. Most females dont even wear a hat so how do they show respect?

Imo it's kind of silly. Who made up this anyway? Why dont we take our shoes off for respect, than everyone can join in.

It's about "the tradition" of respect.
The military and police have very strict rules to follow when in uniform with the Canadian Anthem plays.
Me - I take my hat and toque off.

Sent from my phone ---- is anyone listening ?

Agreed

Sent from my iPhone using while working extremely hard

Out of respect, and the way I was raised. I would take my hat/toque off if I was wearing one.

Just don't ask me to put my drink down too....... ;)

should see the looks I get when i sing along with the yankee anthem as well.

on a side note, anyone else think Paul Lorieau's replacement anthem singer sucks? the dude sings the anthem way too slow. maybe I'm just used to Lorieau, but that dude killed it and made everyone want to sing. then new guy, not so much

Walk into your local Legion with your hat on... Don't forget your wallet.
