Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
I guess this is why these things never get settled very quickly.
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
about the level of intelligence i expected from a liberal
Oh well FedEx and UPS will run them out of business soon enough
That means absolutely nothing coming from you.....
well. facts help..
first off, i agree if you dont like your job, leave.
as far as canada post striking and shutting down, canada post shut the doors so the workers could not work.., not the workers..another mega corp helped by the government imo...
the wages they are fighting about i agree are a non issue, and they are being a bunch of whiny babies. the union for postal workers is a large union and has the places/means to stage their opinions. The lost souls of the whole canada post deal is the rural carriers.. rural carriers (sort and deliver all their mail) who also use their own vehicles, and only get around $8/hr!, not the mid $20's like urban carriers (who btw, only have to deliver the mail in a supplied vehicle or on foot, not sort mail). Then there is the holidays..urban workers get lots of paid holidays to use, with coverage etc taken care of. Rural carriers have to find, and train, their own coverage in order to use the few days they may be able to get off for holidays...! And then have to get them "approved" by canada post, what a freaking joke.
unless you're a small business the whole canada post thing is a joke, I never noticed a thing, we're in the digital era, if you want flyers, news papers etc, get off your ass and go buy one or go to the store, or how about look online..
have to get more than that, AB min wage 8.80/hr, MB 10.00/hr. and if they are willing and wanting to work for that, so be it.
are the rural carriers not unionized? and if so why not? we here unions are the greatest thing since sliced bread?
and why wouldn't their fellow workers, (ubranized peeps) help out and cry for the rural peeps?
My wife is a rural carrier. She gets paid contractly roughly 1200month that includes her own vehicle. They are under a different union they were not on strike but couldn't work cuz of the lock out.
best guess on $$ /hr ?
thanks
well our mail man says there are piles of bags of mail to be sorted and sent out. They are now behind, Many and i do mean the majority of our suppliers now have gone to email or faxing the invoices vs. mailing, we have also set up more online payment options with our customers and suppliers. These actions brought forth by US the customer of Canada post, should help to ease the work load for them. Next round of fighting out of Canada post will be job security, cause Canada post has forced its customers to use other means of getting the information/product to its end users.
If you are not happy with your job why are you working there?
I own my own company, and MY employees have a GREAT plan, and are payed very fair in our industry. They do NOT get endless holidays, (our mail man gets 7 weeks!!!!) My peoples get 2 to 3 weeks as I am sure many of you do too.
What were they actually striking about? PENSION is what i understand.
Why is the employer responsible for the pension of its workers? Union demands?? how much union dues does one pay? maybe if there was no union the dues paid would be a great pension plan for the employee..??
IMHO: unions do nothing over private companies but keep the slackers employed, keep the druggers employed, cause u cant just fire anyone, they go to detox etc etc. They DO help with securing pension plans, but read above.
I get 7 weeks vacation and I like it. 3 cheers for unions.
You should try and spend some of that holiday time on the hill sledding instead of your keyboard talking about it.
I get 7 weeks vacation and I like it. 3 cheers for unions.
good for you. hope you enjoy your union dues coming off of every chq too, or if you strike hope you have saved up cause strike pay, aint gonna fill up the wedge.
unions are not for all, and at one time they were needed, but not required today. Pensions will kill the unions, as the boomers retire, and start to use up the cashola, which has shrunk due to the markets, this will be the end to most unions.
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
There are laws in place that require pensions to be solvent so there is money there for the retirees. As for union dues $60/month is chump change. I cant even fill the wedge for that.
Short memory?well. facts help..

The owners, CEO, COO, president etc of those said companies are trying to reduce the amount of pension the new hires get for a reason. CASH. laws are there, correct, but if a company goes under and the markets have crashed, it aint gonna be good. The cash is not cash but stocks etc. market crash is not good for anyone.
The nice thing about unions is that the people who are generally lazy and couldn't survive in the private sector, have job security.
