Why would someone even do something so stupid?

I think it's a mistake that Polaris will regret. Many potential buyers are gonna go into the showroom and look underneath, and walk out saying they will keep their old sled... or choose another brand. It just shows lack of due diligence.



If that was the case, why use the clamp next year?

Are they? Yet to be seen till its in my garage.

As far as I have heard which had yet to be proven too is they are doing better quality checks on them so one is not needed but it will be there for peace of mind.

There was a few people out there with lots of miles on with no issues prior to the aftermarket clamp and the polaris clamp.

I dont own a 2013 pro... Ive owned all kinds of polaris sleds in the past,, still have 2 polaris quads and a side by side.

AND im in the market for a new sled. Dont think Ill be buying a PRO tho and this is one of the reasons why.

So shut your trap.

If some how i never went on the Internet and based my opinions on my friends owning 2013 pros it would be that they worked well and the throttle response and power to the track is greater than a 11 and 12. And had one out of three sled qd belts blow all year and no shaft issues even after alot of miles on the sled prior to the clamp.

So to break it down 3 guys I know. Had great flawless winters on their pros. The Internet full of people I don't know sounded like they didnt.

I've personally seen 2013 pro's with 0 issues. Ive personally seen quite a few gernade too. If you as a polaris customer, are happy with the fix,, thats your buisness. Im not tho.

The 5 xm in my group have had a flawless season Aswell. But there were XM sleds burning up in other groups so its still a small sample size sorry to say!

It's an open forum, you will see all 3 brand specific sections having posts from all 3 brand users.

It's not like we are bashing, we are merely discussing. If it were doo or cat I would say the exact same thing.

You can bet if skidoo throws those shims on the 2014 sleds there will be other rand riders posting about it so ya who cares who's posting.

I have had the clamp installed since brand new on my pro, i ride where ever i can but i do not worry about my drive shaft failing, i do check everything out before each ride including the clamp to see if it has moved or if it is loose, but it is no different then checking for loose bolts or clamps or loose electrical plugs they can all leave you broke down in the mountains, but at least i can ride and feel good because i have checked everything out, I have 500 Miles from medium to aggressive ridding and have no problems to date, would i buy another Pro with the clamp absolutely because i feel this sled fits me the best and I am not going to sacrifice that.

I think what we are forgetting, is that the drive axle was never designed to have a clamp in the first place. Due to some poor manufacturing and assembly process, some failed, and the clamp was introduced to help prevent more failures. If these things are manufactured properly, there is no need to have a clamp. Now, knowing that there was an issue on the 13's, I think Polaris is simply running the clamps in order to instill a little more confidence in the consumer, when purchasing a new one. Judging by the amount of failures after the clamp was installed, I think it is now a non issue.
The QD system, now that may be another story. I have zero confidence in the belt, as I have personally seen two failures, Not on mine, but still seen them, never mind the internet stories. That is enough personal experience for me to put doubt in my mind. I don't feel I should have to alter my riding style in order to prolong the inevitable, due to a weak link. If their new belt compound prolongs the life then it may be the fix, or another bandaid to a deeper issue. Time will tell. Nothing like being a gineau pig.

Just talked to a sales guy that was at the dealer release and he said new belt and new shaft, I asked would the clamp be on again and he said no. So we will have to see at the sneak peeks or in the fall.

Do you honestly want to snowcheck a sled when you don't know if it will be fixed properly or not? I was considering a Polaris and this was an important detail to me.
