I just heard that the mask bylaw will stay in effect until July 5th when the subject will be review by city council. They may even extend the bylaw for up to 30 more days or more.
Now if you are for masks or against masks you must see the problem with this decision. Here in Alberta our top doctors (AHS) have got their way all the way through this "pandemic" and the Alberta government did what the experts in the medical field instructed, even if they did not agree.
So now we have AHS telling the provincial government that there is no risk of overwhelming our hospitals again and the vaccines are sufficiently effective, even against the variants. So the provincial government now set July 1st as the day to fully open the province and have deemed masks no longer required.
So now we get a bunch of politicians that have zero medical training (as far as I know) deciding that AHS does not know enough to make a safe educated decision regarding masks.
It is not like AHS told us "Don't run with scissors in your hand" and now they said "It's now okay to run with scissors in your hand". It is more like, "Now you have those scissors in a suitcase, it's up to you if want to run. And city council is still deeming it unsafe for fear of the scissors, and are forcing us with fines, not to run.
I am not looking for response that masks work or don't work or the virus is fictitious, only am interested in hearing your thoughts on councils over-stepping decision here. I bet Ozone won't let such a stupid thing happen after he becomes mayor.
