I just heard that the mask bylaw will stay in effect until July 5th when the subject will be review by city council. They may even extend the bylaw for up to 30 more days or more.

Now if you are for masks or against masks you must see the problem with this decision. Here in Alberta our top doctors (AHS) have got their way all the way through this "pandemic" and the Alberta government did what the experts in the medical field instructed, even if they did not agree.

So now we have AHS telling the provincial government that there is no risk of overwhelming our hospitals again and the vaccines are sufficiently effective, even against the variants. So the provincial government now set July 1st as the day to fully open the province and have deemed masks no longer required.

So now we get a bunch of politicians that have zero medical training (as far as I know) deciding that AHS does not know enough to make a safe educated decision regarding masks.

It is not like AHS told us "Don't run with scissors in your hand" and now they said "It's now okay to run with scissors in your hand". It is more like, "Now you have those scissors in a suitcase, it's up to you if want to run. And city council is still deeming it unsafe for fear of the scissors, and are forcing us with fines, not to run.

I am not looking for response that masks work or don't work or the virus is fictitious, only am interested in hearing your thoughts on councils over-stepping decision here. I bet Ozone won't let such a stupid thing happen after he becomes mayor.

Grande Prairie rescinded their mask-bylaw back in January, instead deferring to the Alberta government regulations. I really can't understand why Calgary wouldn't do the same, except to waste time and tax-payer money.

There seems to be a struggle at all levels of government right now as to who has jurisdiction on what areas, and it seems the big cities in particular believe they can overrule the authority of other levels of government.

Just to add a little something to this any federal building or location will still require a mask worn in Alberta I believe.

Calgary mayor (aka the purple penis puffer) despises Jason Kenney and the UCP, as do most of an extremely left wing council. They would ever cooperate with the UCP or any of their policies. Add to that the fact that they are totally incapable of making a timely decision on anything, preferring to study, send to committee or defer everything, unless it’s a socialist left wing item that supports bike lanes, traffic calming or lgbtqw43##//??¥¥££€€8900 issues, which are all passed unanimously in minutes. No surprise they’re stalling on masks….

Be hard to make people wear one when AHS say don’t have to
This is what I'm wondering....will people just tell the municipal governments to take a hike? How could bylaw ever police thousands who just decide no mask. Should be fun to watch.

It’s all about the stampede. They can’t make everyone at the stampede wear a mask without a provincial or municipal bylaw.

I have never worn a mask. I go to the dentist, the doctor, anywhere I want pretty much. If they respectfully deny me service I respectfully go somewhere else with my money no problem. Som places sometimes asked me to wait outside and they bring me my ch!t hand-delivered like I’m special. Or I wait outside till my dentist is ready to see me and they phone me and I walk in directly to the chair no mask required Most businesses have read the bylaws and in the bylaws it says you don’t have to wear a mask if you identify as someone who’s exempt. Now that everyone’s vaccinating for me to be safe I just tell everyone I’m vaccinated and they welcome in with open arms. As far as Masks go, I’m in trades I wear respirators for painting and spraying lacquer’s all the time. But wearing a PANTY mask just so I can have the pleasure of buying groceries ain’t happening. Soon as I put it on I feel like I’m being bullied my face turns red and fight or flight kicks in. I can’t do it. I literally cannot wear a mask unless it is required by me my choice.
