Hey all.
Looking at going to golden for the first time this year.
Usually go to vale and mcbride and stay at wccr.
Anything like that in the golden area for around the same prices?
Not interested in hotels.
Any info would be appreciated, thanks.

You could stay at a house or condo on kicking horse and drive out in the morning?

Looking to try golden this year with family we usually go to glacier house resort in revelstoke because I can ride around the lodge and pull the kids on the tobaggan. Is there anywhere in Golden to stay in a cabin that u can ride from the cabins ?

I believe there’s been some major changes to Airbnb in BC as of May 2024,don’t know all the details but may affect us sledders this coming winter with it being banned in some areas.

Nothing better than governments telling private businesses how to run their own businesses is it. Maybe it’s for the best in this case. My daughter and two friends were able to get Taylor Swift tickets in Vancouver coming up. Didn’t want to pay the inflated hotel prices so got an AirBNB. Then after booking, the AirBNB then cancelled their reservations a couple weeks later when they realized they could make way more money because of the demand for rooms for the concert so my daughter and friends were forced to pay $1000/night for a hotel anyways. Kinda bullchit if you ask me.

I see both sides to the air BNB issue. We have zero long term accommodations in Invermere. Any that used to be available are now abnb for obvious $ reasons. Good for the property owner but bad for business owners who can't hire staff because there is nowhere for people to live.
Our mayor has multiple abnb rentals so when the topic came up for council to decide on he argued in favour of abnb as did other property owners on council.
Now some businesses are buying properties for staff accommodation. No many can afford this though as starter properties are $450k.

I've been too 7 areas across BC this year and all i can say is that hotel chains are hurting,,, many are in dyer need of repairs and some are in total ruin...

Sad too see hard times on the the community's not only in bc but all across Canada...

Correct,,, folks are traveling but not enough too keep the lights on in the smaller lodges and hotels and those that are off grid...

Lots of places are closed in the far north of all the provinces...

North Ontario hotel and lodges are pretty much done...

A few are lucky with repeating Clientele and new guests,,, the same cant be said for alot of them...

Thats what happens when the goverment and the media push fear mongering. Was having a conversation about this with my boss the other day. Hurting all sorts of businesses and feel bad for them

All the shiity renters cry and whine about short term rentals robbing them of cheap places to rent. Truth is they and the BC tenacy rules are the reason people won't rent their places long term. Not worth the risk. The new by laws require a permit and buisness licence here so all it has done is increase the price of the tourist rentals.

Pretty hard to find any small private business that is thriving in Canada. We are being taxed into a recession.
The Feds are all about big corporations…
Too difficult to ask ma&pa companies for kickbacks and party support donations.
Corruption in Canada is as bad or worse than anywhere else in the world….

I doubt that you will find what you’re looking for around Golden.

I haven’t been going as much as in the past, but all the good riding has always been that you need to stage out of town (or away even from out of town accommodations).

Unless some local accommodation business pipes in here, I doubt anyone is willing to give up their secrets….

I agree but not all people are shitty renters, the government definitely isn't helping phuk all with their bs regulations.
