Hey, so I bought a Ninja, some of you may have seen my pics. Its so hot!! I love it. Now I need to get the riding gear and have no clue where to start. Whats good? Get the good good stuff? spend any amount on it? What brands are good? If any of you have some tips that would be awesome, I am sooo new to this street biking. thanks.

I've got a Z1R jacket and chaps and I love them. Really comfortable and warm on a cold day but I don't sweat when its hot either. The price was a big reason I bought this brand, it was $130 for the jacket and $120 for the chaps and I'm a big guy and there is alot of leather there so=good price to me anyways.
My inlaws all wear Joe Rocket and really like that stuff but it was a crazy expensive.
Maybe I'm wrong but when you put stuff like that on you know if it is what you want. If you want(in the back of your head) alot of hard plastic inserts and protective gear built in to the jacket or whatever, that is what is gonna feel the most comfortable to you and you will like it best.
If you are like me and just want plain leathers for bugs, the odd thrown rock or whatever than that's what will feel best.
Maybe I'm just full of SHEET, but it makes sense in my head...:doh:I am workin nights by myself though and am pretty tired.
Anyways good luck.

exactly
some peep s might say its just a 250 ! whatever !!!!!!!!

look a bit on the price tag but not too much

face it that you only have one body, one head or worst one life ! ! !

it really depends on how much you wanna spend

you could go expensive but get the best quallity which would be

arlen ness , dainese , hein gericke , ixs , stuhl

those suits will last forever and are bulletproof

another little tip is
get a 2 piece suit where you can zip the pants to the jacket reasons for that

1. most of the time those suits look just killer :)
2. your dressend completely
3. you want get kidney problems cause your back is closed !!!!
4. you can just ride with the jacket (which i dont recomend) if you have to

what else should you get ?

a good pair of gloves

i always rode with full leather gloves which go over your wrist and protectors for knuckles and fingers

next thing which is a good investment is a kidney belt
i made it a little different and got myself a "turtleback" so i have a back protector and a kidney belt in 1 item

which brings us now to boots

good pair of boots are also a good thing to have i can only recomend getting high boots in leather so cleaning and water isnt an issue

last thing would be a helmet (most peeps make mistakes here)
not the most fanzyiest helmet is the best
and the cheapest of course also not (you pay what you get)

long story short
dont cheap out on the safety clothes

i would say for about 1000-1500 bucks your absolutely well dressed and good to go for the next 10 years ! ! !

here couple pics of my riding gear

jacket is ixs racing pro s3

pants are ixs racing pro s3

Geez FOSSY..... Female street rider.
I don't even wear all that crap when I am out on the highway.... I wear my spine protection, but other than that, I don't wear my leather most of the time in the summer, I have never worn a kidney belt and I wear M|X gloves most of the time when it's really hot out.

I agree that you wear what keeps your guts inside you and you only get one body, but on the other side, don't ride the thing like your are trying to beat the pace car out of the pits.....

There are times to wear all your gear, but most of the time, if you are using the bike for comuter purposes, ALL the gear is a PITA.

Helmet, running shoes, Shorts and a t-shirt....nice summer day goin for a ride .........see alots of these ...,.....and some bone head cuts you off or a deer jumps out or

Were the gear, yes it's warmer but it may safe your life. It is not cheap but then niether was the bike, no can you really but a price tag on saftey..

Lots ride without it, go down to your local hospital or cop shop and ask how bikers they have scrped off the road this year already...it does happen.

Dont want to scare you from riding thats not the point, ride just just know that layer of gear is whats between you and the road.

leather are not the only choise in case you are implying me with your road kill example.... I have been down enough and walked awayfrom it, on and off a track.

there are different materials available to deal with heat..... but you don't have to wear full gear. There is very little that leather pants are going to to for you that denim won't.... And, like I said..... If she is using the bike as commuter conveyance, who wants to spend all day at work in their leathers. Unless you think it looks cool I guess!!!
