in this day and age there must be a computer program that will give you
a recommended materials list for a specified size blding.

i am building a bunk house at the lake - 14 x 16 w/4' covered deck so i guess
14 x 20 - 8 ft walls..mild pitch roof...

nothing fancy for this yr plywood flooring, except deck boards on the deck -

any help would be appreciated.. i have a list just want to know if my figures are correct or even close.

heres what i based on

16" centers....of course
2" treated skids for the base
sheeting on roof...may go tin so i will just leave it at that.
treated plywood floors-
treated floor joyces.. deck material -
rails around the deck..sides n front with a 4 foot steps in the front.

gonna wing the doors and windows for now...

not sure on what to go with as far as pywood thickness for different areas
like floor/walls and roof.

fire away the webpages...i m sure someones figured it out..

thanks

Terry

My first question Terry is why the treated plywood on the floor? It won't be a wet area.

OSB is cheaper than plywood for walls and roof. Depending on siding you can use 3/8" on the walls and 7/16" on the roof (maybe 3/8" in AB).

Draw a rough floor plan and go to the local Home Hardware or wherever and they will doo a take-off for you.

Good luck.

the types of programs that exist for construciton estimating take way to much setup to bother setting up something like that.

about an hour of calculations and sketches you should be able to have it all figured.

if i get time ill give it a shot as i am a construction estimator

Wow those aren't cheap. Like double the cost of a regular framed building.

what planet are you from? remember these are complete on skids and have a floor in them as well.
also what does it cost you per hr to build? remember time aint free.
and they also come with windows those might be free though. j/k

just sayin the wife and i looked into some similiar deals for shed/garage when at the farm and ranch show and cost to build it myself is barely worth the time it would take. also the convienience factor comes into play as well. when it gets there its done:d:beer: and you really gotta like that factor.

Ritchie Bros. is having a sale this week starting tomorrow, they have 20 of them similar to what you want, various sizes & styles. Go to website and check under mobile structures. I think the Hutterites make some of these that are sold, another avenue for them to make money.
You can also check recent sale price for these.

When I built my shack the boyz at Home hardware gave me a formula for stuff and help price it out. Easy peasy. Pick out a plan or have one drawn up first and they'll pretty much do it for you.
Also had a buddy draw his plan on a napkin and the lumberyard did it for him.
