I was told that it is a safety thing. My 08 does the exact same thing if you punch it it has a split second delay then watch out but it is suppose to be for when you hit it by accident. If you install a dynatec cdi on the 650's I believe it goes away.
well i went quading today and was haveing a great day towards the end of the day we were playing in this small river for a about a hour then just as we were leaving it started to run like ch!t and backfireing and ended up having to get it towed home anyidea why this would of happened
well i tryed that and no luck same problem and now i noticed that my belt light wont go off and it flashes between 2wd and 4wd . like my quad starts and idles but as soon as you rev it up it starts to backfire
You've got water in one of the electrical connectors some place and that is causing your problems. You will need to get everything good and dry. I would suggest taking connectors apart, drying them out with a shot of electrical contact cleaner, applying die electric grease and then connecting again. Also check connections at the coils and make sure all ground points are good. A dyna tech ignition module for your machine will advance the timing 5°, override reverse rev limiter, rev limit will be 9200 stock is 8500 and the belt limp home mode switch will be useless. I also have a dyna tech module for sale that will fit your machine, pm me if your interested.
