Fella I know was riding in the trees when a branch tore off launder and key... and he couldn't find it anymore. Luckily he had spare in truck and buddy was able to grab it while he waited... got me thinking it be a good idea to carry spare in pack if you have one.

Loosing a tether can be solved quickly. Lost key not so much.

Always carry spare in pack.

Better to be looking at it, than looking for it

Trucks are not always that close and a person could be waiting a substantial time line waiting for some one to retrieve spare.

This has happened before and the fellow did not have a spare key..Many hours to get sled towed out of back country.

If this would have happened back in Keystone or Tutle it would have been a chopper ride. Expemsive vs a 100 bucks for a spare key.

Hard to get a dealer to take the computer into the backcountry to program with BUDDS.

Absolutely carry a spare in your pack. I even go the little extra with our two sleds; both are programmed for the same key. Haven't had the need to use one yet but...................it is better to be prepared to use it.

And ya really unprepared not to have a spare for yourself, it's kind of the rule to have a spare if it's a doo

I think you can key 4 to 6 sleds alike if you ride with the same group I would suggest that as well. Whenever I buy a new one I bring one of my other and get it keyed to match. Also the wife and I both carry spares in our packs just in case.

The sled will accept 6 keys we have had 10 sleds keyed alike it is sure handy!
But it is a little harder now with there being 2 different types of keys the older dess keys and the newer 2015 and up rf dess keys

The ski doo engineer who invented the Dess Key needs a few kicks between the legs. They are absolute ****.

Can you elaborate? The older ones are a bit of a pain when they have snow or water in them, find the new ones work well.

I own 4 ski doo 800 from a 2009 to a 2015 T3 and my friends all drive the same. The Dess key on most of them have to be wiggled every single time after starting. When we all start our sleds after a beer it sound the the back up alarm on the space shuttle.
