Hey Guys,

I thought I remember reading about broken recoils causing issues with Magneto's? I started my sled, the cord didn't retract, followed by a large clink and the engine stalling. Used the rope around the primary, fired right up and same thing. Then all other attempts to start were fail. Sound like the problem?

Thx

Dan

The mag pickups, there's two on the outside of the flywheel are located just behind the recoil cover. It's possible that the spring let go and took out a mag pickup. Has to come part regardless. Take alook.

Ok awesome thanks for the reply, are you able to purchase the mag pickup separately? Funny I am in GP at the moment working, this happened on the side of the Weyerhauser, it was an interesting recovery to say the least...

Nope you can not. A new stator is $ 320.00 and change... I'm not sure what a recoil spring would be worth. I just replaced my coil.... I had a screw come out of the mag pickup and it started to hit the flywheel.

Ok sounds good, thanks for the info, I figured as much. Funny GP Polaris said they had never heard of this happening. But I knew right away when it wouldn't fire. All they had was a recoil spring so I will pull it out and start there.

Pulled the recoil and the reel and return spring for the ratchet are buggered. One of the mag pickups was bent from the ratchet, bent it back and she fired up. Will rebuild the recoil and should be good to go.
