I lost control a wee bit and piled my sled into the trees. The only damage that was sustained was a 2 1/2" tree went in between the upper and lower a-arms just missing the shock and penetrated through the plastic into my primary clutch and stalled the sled. Now I'm left with a 2-3" hole/rip in the plastic and would like to know what people are doing to fix this kinnda thing. Should I rivet a piece of tin or plastic over it? Maybe epoxy....grrr

Randy M has done some pretty fancy plastic welding. Was it through the belly pan?
You have a logging permit?

Ouch, that sucks. Plastic welding would seem to be the way to go in my opinion, or just cut the hole a little bigger and put some screen over it and have extra venting.

You are lucky that you didnt bend anything.. Did you look to see if your spindles are still at the same angles, i've noticed on some that have had bad days one spindle will be more straight up and down than the other one.. These xp's are hard to tell when they are bent cause they absorb flex with the cast parts...

Extra venting. Could just throw a patch over it from the outside to keep the snow out. Chicks dig scars dude.

Do you have a heat gun just cut 2 pieces of aul or any thing solid and heat up
both sides so it is verrry soft and then sandwich it together hold it till it cools
will very close back to shape and then get some Loctite Fixmaster Poxy-Pak part #81120 best stuff. Used this way many times on s and zx belly pans. Eaven fixed wifes sled and she dident notice till this day and never will she has a xp now.

After looking at and examining your photos I would say that the tree or sappling that made that hole could'nt have been more than inch in diameter at the most.... 2 1/2 inches??? c'mon? :D A 2 inch thick tree would have made alot way bigger hole and caused some serious damage?? :D Sorry but the hole in the plastic looks pretty small to me?

Not trying to offend you but just being analytical

had this same problem with mine at Fernie about 2 weekends ago. Bumped into a stump, went just under my left A-Arm like yours did and punched right through the plastic. Mine was at the bottom though, not the front part like yours. Poked right through and stopped about an inch from hitting my belt. At the moment I have it covered with duck tape, and a layer of that furnace tape over top :D Will get it properly repaired when I get some money in my pocket again. Course it just missed my $140 skid plate that could've taken it easily.....go figure

Analytical? thats pretty close to ANAL...:D
The piece of wood that went through my belly pan had to be cut out with a saw because it was wedged in-between my a-arms, shock and tie-rod and you know what I forgot my tape measure at home but I'm guessing that the space through there is around 2 1/2"-3". the split in the pan was 4" long the hole you see in the picture is from the factory plastic plug.
