I would have a better chance of hitting an antelope or elk than a tree...We dont have tress down here...
Stumps will not be a problem...
You have a better chance of beating a Phazer in a straight up drag race to 100mph than hitting a tree over there.
oh yea....
Doug,
I have a question for you...
Do you guys run standard width tracks or do you cut them down for trail grooming? Only reason I am asking, is that we are 14' wide, and planned on cutting them down to 12' for transporting, but Im thinking we may give up some traction. If not traction some ground pressure...Without the tiller today we measured it at 0.9psi ground pressure.
Hauling it as a 14' load will require a pilot truck, but might be worth it.
Thanks
Looks like a piece of farm equipment to me....you will get a fine for hauling it with the tracks on. They are considered a load that can be broken down.

It really depends on what you want to do with it! In Fernie we have a small BR180 with steel grouzers that make the cat hang over the trailer 3" on each side so that would be 9'. When we are in the deep snow, we have trouble; trouble pushing and trouble pulling the mogul master. A lot of the trouble comes from the fact that this is a small Cat. In Elkford, with the PB200, we have the nice, aluminum grouzers that are 4'. Yes, it is a pita to transport, but it sure is nice in the deep snow and climbing the steeper hills. Saying that, groomig in Elkford is a different kettle of fish from grooming in Fernie; narrow trail, steeper climbs, and not as forgiving. The smaller tracks just wouldn't cut it.
If you ever plan on grooming in the deep mountain snow or maybe selling it and have someone from the mountains buy it, keep the 4' grouzers.
I guess another choice would be to try and find a narrower track and keep the wide one for a spare.
Just some initial thoughts, fs
Definitely not...thats like saying you have to take the tracks off a dozer or trackhoe...
Got permits for 14'6" wide this morning.
Dont come through the scales in Fort st John, or Fort Nelson thats an instant fine. Just a heads up we got fined last year. I had to go pull tracks at the scale. Just like a dozer blade it takes a half an hour to pull them so they are considered a reducible load.
You have given me some great advice here so far, but for our application, we knew we had to try and move it around with the tracks and wings on...
First voyage this morning, and first real field test. Drive was a bit hairy at first, but heck 14' isnt that wide after a half hour or so LOL...
