I wonder how those bike engines hold up under boost? They are pretty strung out to begin with arent they?

I think they'd hold up well as long as you kept up on the maintenance.

Have seen a few things looked good on video but were not the case in person. Like I said, 4 feet of powder with no base then get back to me. It does look interesting but if you look at the cost, bike at $10000 plus or minus, track kit plus turbo kit.......... Would rather a new sled then a concept.

Word eaten, that is pretty sick.
Exactly. Give those things 3x the HP with that turbo kit and now you have a kick ass machine. Snow Hawks were cool but never really were popular. I think you'll see ALOT more of these things in the years to come for sure.

After reading more into them I see how they get the floatation, mid point center of gravity, big front ski and a 136" track..... I have been telling the Mrs I wanted a dirt bike. lol

I love the idea of a snowbike...But I didn't exactly see a whole lot of "floatation" in that video lol.

Holy smokes not a cheap setup though. So just going off of MSRPs........9500 for the bike, 6200 for the TS kit, and 4300 for the turbo kit. An even $20,000 plus exchange, taxes, and shipping. Wow. Definitely would be fun though

I have been spending a lot of time talking with Reagan Sieg and Allen Mangum over the past few weeks. I have a pretty in depth article coming out very soon, answers a lot of questions.

It seems like an entirely different sport. Kind of like what snowboarding did to the Winter Ski scene. The capability of these snow bikes is unreal! the way you look at ride terrain changes as well, for thick trees aren't a problem, you simply can motor through everything with more agility.

I'm looking forward to trying one this year. I think there will be a demo ride for the Mountain Horse set up in the Pass.

I want a snowbike just as bad as you do lol, but I am still not convinced they will hammer through or up as much snow as a sled? Never been in the mountains on a sled though so I would like to hear from someone with an unbiased opinion. Not someone who says their snowbike is king because they just spent 20k on it and they are trying to justify the price.

whats the power to weight ratio of these things,I have my doubts about these bikes and for 20g you can turbo a sled.(sled @turbo)I have bin told its a bitch to service the high output 4 strokes from my buds that ride dirt bikes .Alot more 2 stroke bikes are being sold cause of this.if the yamaha RX! motor was built like these 450 bikes it would have 200plus hp stock.Am i full of sh@t ?

Reagan explains it so well. It is an entirely different style of riding. some of the bonuses would be to be able play in areas, that wouldn't really be that fun for a sled. The bike is so super agile, playing in trees right off the staging area is cake. You really aren't traveling at such high speeds (except for the turboed models) so your ability to take in all that is around you is another added bonus. Jumps, and laying down carves and exploring new areas really intrigue bike peeps who were only sled dedicated. It really is a sport unto itself. Allan told me that they are developing a kit for youth too and testing it now on a 150R. Reagan also stresses that the trail in on the bike is actually the hardest part, but once you get into the play areas, where it is not so hard packed beginners catch on super quick. I'm not known for my grace or coordination... so this could be an adventure for sure.
I think the sport is going to grow.
I want to help reach out to the peeps who were never sledders, but buy kits for their bikes to play in the snow. they may be unaware of the dangers so we as a sled community need to reach out to them and make sure they have the proper education and equipment to keep them safe while playing in the snow. With a stock snowbike, you need to traverse across mountain faces often rather than going straight up like a sled, so the potential for stuff to go south is there as well as the many other dangers of winter play. I'd urge anyone who is getting a snowbike kit to join their local snowmobile club.
