Boat Inspections - Highway 3 ... ?

Drove back and forth to Koocanusa this week and saw (both directions ) a "Boat Inspection" at the truck weigh scales. What is this about?

Its always there. Or at the info center. Not sure what it is never stopped.

I am not surprise if there is a boat inspection down there. there are so many more people with boats coming into the area then ever before.

If you go into Idaho or Montana, I like to call it a 20.00 cash grab. You get a couple of 17 year old hop-heads that spend 10 seconds looking at your boat, then giving you a decal...that if you don't have will cost you $$$ when the boat federales will randomly ask for when hey see out of state registration.

Is it mandatory? what if you drive by and don't stop.... Ya I know a ticket for... failing to stop, being Albertan, empty beer cans on boat, incorrect tie downs, lights not working, boat too wide/long and last wearing white oakleys
