Board rack

Looking at putting some board racks on a sled this year. Couple buddies want to start doing some skiing and boarding if we get poor weather days and as my knees don't handle either I got voted to be a taxi! What's everyone using for setups? I've looked at cheetah and knight rider but I'm not big on the fit and finish. It'd be cool to get something that just clips into the linq system and away you go and still be able to pack a gas caddy and linq bag. Anyone have any opinions or pics of what they've been using?

Using the cheetah factory racing linq rack. If your not the one riding have your buddies pay for it! On and off in 30 seconds. My third cfr rack. Other two stayed on the sled i sold. Knight rider is decent for boards but not great. There is some one in Vernon making something similar to cfr too. Not cheap but work great.

Knight rider is decent for boards but not great. There is some one in Vernon making something similar to cfr too. Not cheap but work great.


I have used CFR in the past and they are awesome racks, they are pricy but they are worth it. The linq it up rack is what you want as it fits right into your linq base units, so you can take it off in seconds. CFR also has bags and a regular gas caddy will fit in there. Roughly 900.00 Canadian for the linq it up rack, 2 dual ski or snowboard attachments, one for each side and all the hardware for the system, minus 60.00 plus taxes if you have 4 linq base plates already.
I currently use the Ski-Doo Linq system ski/snowboard rack, of which I helped develop. I love it as well. However it is not a accommodating as the CFR rack for board sizes. This is only in a few extreme cases like super fat snowboards etc. The Linq system racks also come off and on in seconds to and are small and easy to store. You can also use them with a link bag and fuel caddy at the same time which is pretty cool. However price is more. You will pay 469.00 per side for the rack and you need the heavy duty cast or regular heavy duty bumper. So it is more money.

Both are pricy but like i said if you ski or snowboard these work the best and make the laps so much quicker than bungees and losing and breaking stuff. Also when you have boards or skis on resist the temptation of rooping pow turns, as you will break, bend and destroy skis and boards this way, trust me I know. The best is to order CFR off his web site and anything ski doo is available at your local dealer, if your putting it on an xm the ski doo racks are cheaper for that but not much. cheers dave

Hands down the cfr rack, I’ve had a knight rider an hated it. The straps ratchets broke in less then 1/2 a season, didnt work well with a gas can, and didn’t like that it wasn’t removable for just sled days.
I did make my own rack that simple and removable that can hold 4 snowboards or 2 pairs of skis, just need to refine it abit before I start selling them.

Go cfr and never look back. Ski doo linq brackets are nice to look at but will break off in the first set of big whoops or roll over, have seen 3 sets fail.

I’ve had both CFR and Knight Rider for years. I like the Knight Rider better for when riding with snowboards only. The straps have a slight bit of give so that you’re not tightening to the same tooth on the ratchet strap every time. Easily replacable parts break away if your sled cartwheels so your board doesn’t break. CFR linq one is great if you want to take it off often but if you get the CFR dime bag or QP bag you’ll end up leaving it on all the time for the storage.

If your sled is the full time shuttle all year the other fellas should be buying the rack…along with your gas and maybe a belt or two.
With knee problems, if you guys are in consistent pow, you should try noboarding. No bindings so no torque on your knees. It makes mellow slopes and drops pretty fun as well.

Rode a no board yesterday, was a ton of fun.

Ya I've heard the no board is pretty fun.
I'll go check with my local doo dealer and see if they have any factory ones I can look at at least. My buddy is getting a CFR for his xm next week we'll see what it's like.

I am disappointed in my CFr direct tunnel mount rack.

Got it for a snowboard but then also got a powder surfer shortly after.

Turns out the straps are too short and the slots are too narrow to fit my powdersurfer. $200 waste for me. Took it off the sled, never actually used it.

My powder surfer straps down nicer on top of my tunnel bag and gas/beer carrier than it would in the rack, even if it fit.

Collecting dust in the garage if anyone wants it!

Need a pow surf bracket they are wider for the foam pad.

We've built custom ones that work great, can sled all day and not even notice them. trick is to put ski boots in the bag and just put them on when you get to where you're going

I've been running this design for over 10 years, never had a failure and never lost anything. Added snowboard bindings last year, but used to use bungy's which worked well.
