What was the cause of the failure? Was it something on the turbo or in the engine itself?
My buddy just blew his 2021 turbo with less than a 1000KM. I haven't heard of any other motors going down, anybody else? My 2020.5 has 4000KM and motor is still running good.
Not the first of heard of this, had a N/A 850 in our group go down from crank failure as well.
Typical crank failure would point to lack of lubrication. But that really makes no sense, that 850 crank should have incredible lubrication, even considering that the throttle body injectors are trying to wash the oil off the lower rod bearing.
RGM: do you know which bearing failed? Was it the lower rod bearing by chance?
My cousin had one go down last week, (they have four in there group) the other three worked pretty good but all low miles so far.
Not sure what happened for sure. Will update when I hear.
local dealer has had 4 850t doo turbos STOCK with stator failure anything bouncing around loose in engine bay seems to enter hole in stator case and destroys stator....Fox News...
Update: motor ok, stator not so much, something fell apart or got inside the stator housing... maybe something lose from factory as less than 100 k on sled.
Come on this is all BS.... according to the great snow and Maxwell....he has 30000kms on the same belt...this can’t be...?.?
yes, this can happen but is not turbo specific all of the stator housings are open so you need to be careful dropping any nuts and bolts, rivets etc in the engine bay.
