Hi everyone!! Ok a couple weeks ago I bought a 2005 Summit Highmark 1000 RT 162" the top end was blown but he already sent the jugs down to Millenium Technologies and they already did the NiSil treatment, the dang thing looks brand new! Anyways I went ahead and bought the new nylon coated pistons for it, Dynaport pipe and can, it came with a Straightline Performance can, so I have the option on going with either can, now keep in mind this machine has never been wrecked or trail bumping so the sled is "very" tight, no loose stock rivets, but it has had 1500 miles of deep powder Thrashing with poor engine maintenance, the typical excessive belt dust in the air horns, sooo I decided to pull out the bottom end last night and disassembeled and found the block to be cracked in 2 spots where the bottom of the skirt came off and rolled up between the crank and case, and all the bearings are rough along with the oil pump bearings not spinning, 1 pin on the crank side of 1 rad is scarred, " should I repair the block and have the crank fixed by a machine shop? or would it be cheaper to buy another bottom end? " either way I am already $4000 into my first sled and I need a cheap way out, I am 42 and I am easy on my stuff, I usually tail up the backside with my friends, and I dont Highmark, I just like to get there with ease and then kick back and watch everyone else tear up their stuff.
