oh and you still need to find out why your engine went, dont want to be getting a new top end then it going again for the same reason, yours looks like a lean burn down but could be wrong
modman, i do see your point, though i do need this sled to get some backcountry shots to fulfill my snowboarding sponsorship requirements for the remainder of this season. if i were to sell this sled at 1500$, and spend another 1500 on a new (used sled) that may get me out of trouble till the end of the season, and not break the bank. do you think that the value of the sled as is would be 1500$?
if you need it for a specific reason then that's a little different, its almost like needing a car to get back and forth to work. I would go talk to the rental guys as well, see if they can set up a deal for you, maybe even tag their name onto the sponsor list. Depends on how many days you think you need on the hill. If you could score a great rental rate (say $150 a day), then that equals about 10 days on the hill for the same price as fixing your sled. If you only need one or two days on the hill to get the shots, then I would sell the sled and go rental all the way.
If you have some sort of mechanical knowledge the sled can be fixed, but you might want to look around here and on Ebay for a good used motor because it will likely cost just as much as the rebuild on yours. Looked for wrecked sleds or older sleds as well. Value of your current ride is about $1500-2000 whole depending on condition, if you part it all out, selling each piece individually, then its probably worth $2000 but you will end up with a bunch of parts that no one wants that you will have to store or throw away later. If you want the whole thing gone, then its best to sell it whole.
Modman,
How did you come up with a value of $1500 - $2000? If you are considering that to be in running order I think it is low.
depsnolvr - i called the guys at martin motorsports, they were really helpful, he quoted me 2700 with a 700 core.
though is there anywhere that will sell rebuilt or reconditioned used motors cheap?
