Here's an follow up to my original post

I'm at 2500 km now .. and since my last post, I have yet to blow a belt. I've had many hard deep days where I was expecting her to blow any minute.

Last time my sled went into the shop the following happened:
1- engine came out due to water pump leak
2- rave valve oil leak repaired
3- oil pump leak repaired
4- chain case oil leak repaired
5- A new engine wiring harness was installed due to engine codes and limp mode

What I did
1- geared down the sled with a 20t sprocket (from venom/team)
2- got rid of my pin weights as they did nothing to control my RPM
3- installed skidoo 968 ramps (also have black secondary spring) these have the same profile as 967 but with 5g more weight built into the ramp

My clutches are shifting out more, my sled pulls harder and I haven't lost much track speed. RPM is finally in check! My clutches are cooler but my belt is still kinda hot (clutches at 170-180, belt at 220).

I'm not convinced my belt issue is resolved as belt is still seeing 200+ temps. That being said we've been having a ridiculous amount of snow and I've been riding her very hard without incidents (I'm pretty sure I just jinxed myself by saying this and i'll blow 2 next time out .. oh well)

I have a few theories:
1- the oil leak from my raves / oil pump was a contributing factor to belt issues
2- the 968 ramps actually provide better belt clamping at the primary. The pin weights do nothing at full shift
3- the fact that my dealer took my motor out and put it back in might have cured some alignment / motor mount issue from the factory .. this is just a random thought ...

I was pretty happy all weekend with my sled ... and then I had to limp her out again yesterday due to more engine codes related to electronics .. back in the shop she goes.

When I get it back I'm planning on installing some external vents and inspecting the clutches and belt for dog leg and possibly shimming out the secondary.

Anyway .. hope this helps the ones who are chasing belt problems.

good luck everyone.

ps. my oil consumption seems to have improved as well ...

Got a new fuel pump and spark plugs .. she rips so freaking hard now .. I think I was always missing something from the fuel department .. my plugs probably half fouled from my 10:1 oil usage ratio lol .. . damn this love / hate relationship

What seems to be the ideal clicker position with the pdrive? Will be messing with some adjustable weights very soon.

With 968 ramps, stock pin weights and about 8000' in running clicker 4. Rpm is right on the money

Secondary spring has been changed to the popular black BRP one

Played with it last week, pdrive don't make much sense, we were at 8000 rpm on three so we thought we would drop it by going to 1, but it never came down and we picked up track speed..

Seams the pdrive is not loading motor enough, racing against older xm or t3 down hard Rd, it will loose every time.. Don't think doo tested this thing very well, some guys on turbo sleds going back to tra for that reason

I think some need to study and understand how the Pdrive works, trying to use it like the tra is not going to help.

Well after months on the snow it is amazing that neither doo nor the R&D public truly got it figured out. Great design!

Your right, your findings are the same as mine BTW.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if a company has clutches that give 2000km plus belt life, they shouldn't substitute an all new and improved clutch into the market that has lower belt life.

I jinxed myself good.

3rd time limping out my piece of crap sled.

Multiple engine codes. No power. Almost left her in the bush.

First time I got a whole new engine harness. Second time I got a new fuel pump and plugs. And now again. Wonder what's next.

How many roll their sled to get unstuck? I wonder how much oil can dirp out when doing it? My dealer gave me a new oil cap as the reservoir was pretty oily and you would have to wonder how much is getting on the clutches. When I saw the reservoir on the left side last year I thought it was a dumb idea, I still think it is. I am going to rubber band a paper towel or cloth over the cap and check it out.

My bet is they find an excuse to put it on you and weasel out of any kind of warranty obligation.

I'm on my 4th or 5th oil cap. Lol

I would think that a good dealer would go to bat, ship that one back to BRP before he loses a client and put you on a new machine!! There appears to be a lot of different issues on a lot of different G4 sleds but somehow you sir managed to get them all.
