Block heaters

If you bought a truck without a block heater what style would you install? Just wondering if the tank type heater would be better than the usual frost plug type that most vehicles have.

Mabe call ford and check on a price.

Don't think u can use a bottle heater cause it has 2 different cooling systems.

I went to Florida to pick up the truck. They don't use to many block heaters there. My local Ford dealer quoted me 800 to put one in. I don't know what their deal is but you can buy a tank type heater which is a circulating heater for 80.

if you can afford it go with a Webasto or Espar.

Try a pan heater out. I use one on the Duramax, and along with the factory block heater, the valve covers are warm on -30 mornings. $50 and easy install.

Does it have the composite oil pan....pan heater MAY not work on that pan. Never heard anyone complain about an Espar or Webasto.....

I also have a pan heater on my old dodge....works alright! No block heater on my truck though so I have to plug it in all night! JS!!

Yes the new Ford's have a plastic lower oil pan. No go there.

Just going to have to bit the bullet and ford block heater it or wabasto it.

I'm 100 % sure a bottle heater of years ago will not work on the new chit

The heater itself and the cord are are ~$100 on Ebay. Draining the coolant, installing the block heater, running the cord and refilling the coolant is ~2 hours in your driveway.

I've done a ton of research on this, unless you are willing to go to a fired heater, ie webasto,proheat etc there is no alternative. Factory block heater is 1500w. Pan heater is anywhere between 100-400 watts.

Why would you have to have both circuits heated, jacket water is all that's necessary, aux coolant will do nothing during initial start. IMHO

Its not aux coolant. Its oil warm oil is always better than cold oil.
