I see Telus charges come to $1.74 per minute when I use my cell in the USA  My fault I guess for not checking before using my phone down there. I would dump them right now except they seem to have the best coverage around AB and BC.

X2. My contract with them is up, and they call at least once or twice a week trying to get me to sign up another contract. I would love to tell them to blow a goat, but who else do you use in a small town?

why would you use anyone else. there coverage is the best there is.

im tired of people using my cell phone to call people when there pos rogers of bell phone isnt working.

agreed there going to charge alot for us calling. but im sure they have a reasonable plan you could add for that if you plan on doing it more than once.

and if your contract is up go in and get a free 600$ phone?

you can add an international calling plan... pretty sure I'm covered for 100 international (north-america) minutes per month as a part of my flat rate long distance plan for $25/month.

Yeah I'll look into better plans, should have checked before I left. Just a little miffed at the $1.74 per minute bringing my normal ~$80 bill to $345 last month

My contract is long past expired and I'm thinking of joining the modern era and getting an Iphone so I'll call them tomorrow.

My dad bought an aircard and went on a trip to the US, they never explained to him clearly the charges and he got a $2500 air card bill for like 700 Mb. To be fair he is an 80 year old vetran with poor hearing, maybe they did tell him? At any rate the roaming charges are brutal.

actually telus and bell have the EXACT same coverage, as they share towers!

Yup agreed with Bogger as well, the company I work for uses TELUS as our mobility provider and it is my job to manage these contracts and accounts we have with them. When employees travel to the states they simply just call me up and I have the North American plan (there are a few) and the data plan added for the length of their trip so that they do not incur hefty roaming charges. When travelling overseas, TELUS has a feature called "Passport" that can be added too.

They are all the same. Telus is no worse than Rogers, Bell, Koodo etc. If you are outside Canada and you use your phone, no matter the carrier, you will pay for it through your nose.

:nono:That should NOT excuse THE BIG 3 from SCREWING/ROBBING you on roaming charges :rolleyes:Maybe one day there will be a honest carrier who charges a reasonable $ for their services...:rollinglaugh::biglaugh:

You are right. There is no difference...just the handsets. I have first hand knowledge of this, it is no secret.

Regarding the US charges...call them before you go they will prorate a plan for your vacation.

We were in Hawaii April...total additional charges were about 30 bucks...used the cell just like at home.

I called Telus this morning seeing as I'm back in the US for a few days.

They added the "passport" plan to my account - $20 for 1 month which gives me US rates at $0.25 per minute.

And they're giving me a $120 credit from my previous bill which was pretty good I thought :)

Yea telus is crooks, rogers is crooks...and bell is to! I have rogers and I am so tired of not getting reception ANYWHERE, nothing in mcbride, valemount, jasper if i'm lucky and so many other places  Wouldn't go with telus ever, but bell seems to be the best out of three IMO. Once my rogers contract is up i'm gone. No point being loyal to them they don't give a crap.
