I talked to a dealer last night about my motor.

I had 140PTO/140 Compression at the begining of the season.

Tested again 150 miles later was 139PTO/137.

Tested another 150 miles after that (Last Night) 132PTO/127

I asked at my dealer and they said that BRP wont Warrenty it . Or warrenty it if it blows up because it would be considered worn out and they dont warrenty Worn out. because it has 1500Miles on it.

I asked what Skidoos reccomended top end rebuild was and they couldnt give me a straight answer. So How can BRP say it is worn out when there is nothing changed to the Motor of this sled and they dont have a reccomended rebuild Time? I have the 2 year Best warrenty

i could be wrong, but if you have a 2yr engine warrenty, you should have a 2 yr engine warrenty. km's shouldn't matter, unless specified somewhere. i blew my engine after 4500km and they still covered it...

Ya thats what im saying if BRP had some kind of kms or hr to do a top end on it then i would understand, I dunno it sounds fishy to me i might just contact BRP myself.

depending on the temp of the engine readings can change that much, why are
you testing it so much?does it have and drivability concerns,if not let it blow and get a new one installed,by calling them with all these readings they are going to think somthing is up and your trying to pull a fast one on them

One or two year warranty are just that. Amount of km doesn't matter, I know of guys that had over 6000km and still got full warranty when they blew there engine!!

Although the engine had to blow before anything was done.

What year of sled do you have? not that it should matter as long as you haven't gone past your two year date!!

Ride-er like you don't own a bolt in her.......................

Realistically you have pointed out a potential problem before it has become too costly.... I would think the smart thing for BRP & your dealer to do would be to take the sled in, confirm your compression issues and throw a new top end on for you........

OR

they can just wait for you to blow the thing up, it will still be a warranty job but a much more costly one......

I'd contact a BRP rep and let them know that one of "their distributers" is not acting in their own best interests.....

Ya exactly. Its not even the Numbers that really bother me its more the Drop in PSI in the last 300km.

the let it blow up theory is a good one. except for the fact it could cost you 2000$ to recover it when it does go.

Ya and then he said if the motor has been opened up the warrenty is gone. So i dont know what to do.

Maybe just contact BRP im thinking.

As for a dealer PM me and ill let you know.
Im not out to cause any problems.

Not sure who your dealer is but if it's not echo marine (AB Beach) maybe give those guys a call, they were helpfull with my rebuild and I didn't even buy anything from them. Retodd is quite happy with their service as well.....

I tell you, I would start documenting everything. Write a letter to the dealer and ask them to respond in writing with what they have said to you. Seems like this is one of those situations where you need to cover your butt. I agree with Bogger about trying another dealer and contacting BRP directly.

Ya i would love to take this sled in but the dealer told me they would have to take the motor out and send to BRP, where BRP would make a decision if it was warrenty or not. But if they said it wasnt warrenty i would have to pay for 7hrs labour plus the cost to ch!t the motor to and from BRP. About $900.

Thats not how warranty should work.... I realize too often it does but seriously.... you spend 13K on a new sled less than 2 seasons in and the compression is dropping like creampuffs at a weightwatchers convention and they are trying to scare you into not doing anything about it... the squeeky wheel gets the greese..... Start a thread on here denouncing the "dealers" service prcatices, contact another dealer and BRP and don't take no for an answer....
