Best Tunnel Rack/Gas Caddy for 154" XP??

Hey,
Just wondering what others have done for a tunnel rack/gas caddy on their XP's. I've been looking around and all the manufactured stuff seems so expensive for just a piece of aluminum with holes drilled in it.

Anyone know of a cheaper solution to put a small pack, gas caddy and snowboard/ski on the back of my 154" XP?

I bought the "gas can thingy" for my 154" xp. I polished the aluminum brackets and spacers before i installed it.. works great.. I had the "skidoo" one but it broke off and the netting/straps ended up getting stuck in my track and i lost the jerry can in a field lol IF YOU BUY THE SKIDOO GAS CAN DO NOT USE THE RIVETS.. BOLT IT TO THE TUNNEL.!! IVE SEEN 4 INCLUDING MINE SNAP RIVETS.!!

gas can thingy - 100 bucks approx also has a lil zippered storage compartment for a granola bar, wallet, etc lol

This has been discussed before. If you research you'll see some alternatives.

IMO, you can't beat the Doo tank. I waited two years to buy one and finally bought one this year. Worth every penny.

Here's my sled. No gas can on it the time, but it still fits.

Go to Canadian Tire and get a couple of peices of 1" X 1" aluminum L-bend. Sit your gas can on the tunnel of your sled and mark where you have to put the angled aluminum. Then drill, rivit and drill a couple of extra holes on the top of the aluminum so that you can hook the bungees to it. Works great and costs less than 20 bucks. I'll post pics when I get home (can't do from work)

Metal supermarket in Calgary has aluminum angle in just about any size. They will cut to length whatever you need.

Eventually found some angled aluminum at Home Depot (none at Canadian Tire, Home Hardware, Winsor Plywood, or Rona). Drilled holes though it for bungees to hook to, used aviation shears to round corners (won't tear snow pants) and have pre-drilled rivet holes in the tunnel to attach, ran out of rivets on Sunday night after stores were closed so I'll have to finish it another day.

$10 for a 3 ft piece of angled aluminum, couple $$ for rivets and bungees. Drilled 1/2" holes on one side 1" apart, used some 3/16" rivets and washer to attach to the tunnel. Used come cutters to round the corners, need to file them still cause they're still rather sharp.

Gonna test it out tomorrow... should work great I think!

LOL!!! Dude, unless you are on a smooth highway for a trail, you will lose that jerry can in no time.
I bought a gas rack from Wildchild. He is on snowest, not sure if he is on here though...
It holds a full sized jerrycan, and also has room to carry a bag or a toolbox.

Actually, it worked great... the bungees are pulled tight to the point where they have no elasticity left and the 10L jerry can stayed in place just fine. ...survived a bumpy 26km ride into forester on saturday at least.

I may get some more angled aluminum and use it to create runners for the bottom of the jerry can... will figure that out later tho.

Im not a doctor..... but isnt the proper Brp one only $120.00?

120.00 is a lot, unless you are always turning around to look for gas can.then you find it empty.I have always used bunjee cords and tie downs ect.It seems like it is tied down tight,but never fails it will fall off when you least expect it.I love the skidoo gas can and will never go without 1.easy to remove and put back on,and have never even seen 1 get loose.sometimes you get what you pay for.

Brp one sucks!! its ugly and someone in the group always ends up loosing it or the straps break... dont buy it
