Which GPS app does everyone recommend for BC sledding?

I run the inreach with the earth mate app.
I upload the riding areas I want Into it before the trip

Gaia maps Is another decent app of you dont want an inreach.

I am liking Gaia but usually carry a Garmin 62S as well.

Backcountry road maps for garmin gps for the win.

And rechargable NIMh batteries.

Ski tracks.... super easy to use, works in airplane mode as use very minimal battery
8-12% a day on my phone.

memory maps always works always locks on and you can download caribou closures into it as well. A bit of a learning curve to download for offline use though.

I use Neverlost thru the iPhone 11 works in airplane mode and tracks u. Found it pretty simple to use I have a rino with the maps in it aswell but the Neverlost app was easier. Saved me this weekend pulling out a dead sled. Instead of back tracking was able to find a shorter route to main trail. Has most of the bc sled area maps if u download them. Depending on temp I would possibly bring extra charge block just in case but didn’t seem to use to much battery as long as you keep phone warm

Only thing I do different is I run Gaia at the same time, and to combat the battery issue, I keep the phone in a handlebar bar, in a toque and I throw a hotshot in at the beginning of the day - only down to 82 percent at days end with some pics and vid.....

- I’m not terribly concerned with batt power and cold with this system. Worked great last year at -17 below all day.

Hey all, I am very new at this GPS stuff. I have gone back and forth with Garmin a few times now....and have downloaded "apps" that i thought would work but won't .... I am just trying to figure out what i need to track my day ....save it... and then use that same track in the future. I would like to use my cell phone in this process but cant seem to get any guidance as to how? Maybe its just ignorance on my part of how it all works.... Thanks.

Gaia GPS is my favorite. It is cloud based so if you make an account any device logged in to your account has access to tracks and way points. It reads and saves the common GPS tracking files and I uploaded my Garmin tracks to it as well.

Can you use or download maps for offline use? so if i'm somewhere with no cell service I can look on the map and zoom in?

It’s an app. The free version works well. The premium version includes some very good maps.
Record your day, view where you are at any time, review saved days and if your sneaky, you can view other’s days………

LOL..;i need to figure out just how to use it....then maybe figure out how to be sneaky! I did down load the app...and am just messing with it now. So i guess the next would be just to take my phone out with me and try to make a trail?

you think it best o have the App on my computer as well? right now its just on my phone.

Create a profile and put it on your computer as well. I have the Premium version so but sure if you will have to download maps of the area before you go. I can’t remember.
Pretty much learn as you go.
I’ve tried many apps and this one was the only keeper.
