Best rear skid setup for boost

Just wondering what guys are running and what is working. Looking for something that isnt just for poking chutes, but going to be a fun all around skid. Or is there such thing? Can a guy set the stock skid up to be somewhat competant with good shocks? Also curious about that coupling block system that OVS and Zbros sell. Are there any downsides to something like that? I really dont want to do an aftermarket skid. This thing is kind of nuts in stock form but the shocks are sacked. So just wondering how much of a difference good shocks and heavy rear springs are going to make.

see if you can get a timber sled skid with some fox float 2 shocks for your sled. get the fit kit so that it can be mounted to your stock rails. i have one on my 2009 dragon and it is awesome!

Deaner we ran Elkas on ours with a couple clickers up on the rear springs... It kept the front end in check most of the time, but you had to be mindful at times with the throttle. Another thing that worked well was moving the rear swing arm mount on the rails back 1 inch. Con to doing this basically kept the t-motion not-active. The one way trip to fix that and make the t-motion work is to cut that nub off right below the heim joint.

How do these effect overall handling? Sounds like they work real good for climbing. And have they changed much over the years? Any chance this one is an older model a guy would want to stay away from?

The newer Baker Skids incorporate a heim joint to preserve the t motion movement. There is a small trade off for gaining control of your front end but they still handle and did hill very well. If you watch most of the sleds coming out of monster I would say more than half of them are running this set up.

Ive been wondering that in general. On a mountain sled how much of a difference do they make? Just wondering if it is worth ordering 4 shocks if I go that route, or if you would get the majority of the benefit from ordering the ski shocks and rear.

What are your guys thoughts on that Baker skid that pfi572 linked? Is that a decent deal? Or I wonder if a guy would give up too much in handling by losing the T motion.

I would give Daryl a call as I believe you can upgrade to the t motion is you feel the need .

Check out EZ-rider, they work extremely well in all condition, plus they keep them ski's down on big chute climbs. M10 eat up the big stuff very well but are heavy.
Timbersled skids are hardly an improvement over the sad and weak OEM Doo skid.

Yeah Ezryde would be my first choice. Have heard lots of good things about them but man are they expensive! And I agree about timbersled. Just not a fan of them in general.

Racers Edge does the wheel kit. They are only 9" wheels which just take care of the kick in the back of the stock rails which helps prevent wheelieing as well. I ran 10" wheels on my 2013 without an offset axle.

I have just installed a skinz ARC kit on my wheelie monster, but can't tell you how it works until I have some seat time with it. It couples and uncouples the skid on demand from your handlebars. I couldn't find anything else that could handle both boondocking and hillclimbing without adjusting the setup. Testing will commence next weekend.

Thanks for the link man. I bought this one. Pretty hard to go wrong for the price and have heard nothing but good about these setups. And because its a complete skid, if I dont like it Ill have my other one on the shelf.

You made a good choice deaner, daryl's racers edge skid is one of the best. My sled is currently at the boost-it shop having one installed, cant wait!
