I am looking at buying a new radio soon. I have heard lots about the Baofeng radios? Do they come programmed with channels ? Do they work with the cheap radios you can buy anywhere? Where is the best place to buy them?
They do if you buy them from RGM.
I wouldn't run anything else.
Correct.Ok and what is the difference from buying from him? Just the programming of the channels?
We were on keystone on the weekend talking to friends on Frisby with the Baofeng radios. The voices were nice and clear.
30km apart easily and clear as a bell, I know as I was half of the conversation from Keystone. JMCX was the other half on Frisby Ridge and recognized my voice on the radio(same channel for both groups as we ride together often). Had a BCA for a couple of seasons and switched to the baofeng, one of my smarter sledding decisions to date.
First Link is the CSV file for 100 channels to program your Radio with, all good channels with mountain specific channels for golden revy etc.
Second link is to download CHirp which you can copy and paste the CSV file into.
You need the USB program cable buy the more expensive one
Buy the Baofeng radio of your choice
Copy and paste for all your friends. Also nice to change the display to Name instead of Frequency and operate it in channel mode.

no idea why you would want a code on FRS channels, please share a CSV of channels you use.
